Flames want size in their bottom 6. I think Jooris is the odd man out in this scenario. Flames want to be bigger this is a step in that direction

Not sure about 50 points, but I did like him on the wing

For some reason I'm more confident about Chiasson finding his game than Stajan.

From what I've checked, he's only hit over 50 points once and that was when he was the number 1 center for the Leafs.

2008/09 with TO - 55 points
2009/10 with TO/CGY - 57 points
EDIT: For the record, I don't see Stajan scoring 50+ points ever again in the NHL. I do however think he could be better utilized than as a 10-12 minute per night 4th line center.

Stajan is being misused. He can't go 200 feet end-to-end which is what's been asked of him when you've got him centering guys like Brandon Bollig. Getting him on the wing of a guy like Backlund lets him be a release option rather than having to carry his line. He's still a creative player offensively and the wing will help him use that.
Unless you've got a Gaudreau or Kessel on the wing, the center position is something where I firmly believe you want your end-to-end most effective players with the puck on stick - guys like Backlund and Bennett. It's more important than faceoffs or height. You surround these guys with bodies playing in a structure. Stajan can be a body playing in structure and be that well. He's no longer able to be the speed through the middle.
Plus getting him more minutes with better players gives him a better chance to live up to his contract presumably, though that's up to him to take advantage of the opportunity.

Chiasson was with the Stars when I was living in Texas, and I got to see him live on a few occasions.
The dude was absolute MONEY.
I had no idea he had fallen off so much since being traded.
However, this is a buy-low deal that I am VERY happy with.

Reclamation project for reclamation project.
I like it though. We lack depth on the RW, so it at least bring some much needed roster competition.
If Chiasson turns it around, he is exactly the kind of player we could use.

Well, Chiasson is around 7 years younger than Stajan...so there's that. Not to mention, it's not that realistic to expect many 30 + year olds to have the same game they did in their peak years. Just have to accept he's not the same guy he used to be.

6 goals in 7 games with Glen Gulutzan as his head coach in the NHL.
I predict that pace wont continue this season.

Good move. Get a reasonably priced NHL body who might fit better in your system for a guy who doesn't look to be in your plans.
Reminds me of when Daryl Sutter got Sean Donovan. He did have that one epic year.

Yeah. I could easily see him being used as a LW more than at C this year. And his play over the last 5-6 games of last season suggests it could be an okay idea.

Just thinking about the Donovan-Nilson-Niemenen line brings a tear to my eye. God bless those brave lads.
