Depends on how much he trusts Shero. Shero drafted him, traded a pick for him. He will probably not get more of an opportunity than that form any other team.

Smith-Pelly is overrated IMO - never lived up to the hype he generated in that WJC year.

Had a decent stretch for NJ after being traded their though. If we didn't have a bunch of bottom 6 guys I'd maybe take a flyer but we need to let some farm guys graduate too.

Still working on contracts for Ortio, Colborne, and Jooris. Avoiding arbitration with those players by not qualifying them.

Poulin seems almost certainly unqualified. Beyond that, though, it gets muddier for me. I think Jooris almost certainly gets qualified - playing him this season gives the Flames flexibility for meeting expansion draft exposure requirements.

I can't imagine there being an unqualified former RFA who produced more than Joe Colborne's 44 points last season.

I'd be fine with moving on from Colborne, but still surprised they didn't qualify him simply to move him.
