I keep seeing that Chiasson is a bottom 6 guy. Does he use his size and can he be a ####### to play against? Hoping for more of that.
Edit: bah CP filter. Rhymes with mastard.

Norm!

I really hope Sieloff gets a shot with Ottawa, a good kid who was completely derailed by a fluke infection.

Solid trade for depth. We've got bigger as well.

What I'm reading from Sens fans is he's a good PKer and good defensively, but his offense completely melted away.

Hathaway and Grant. Ferland could be a top two liner for us in some scenarios as could Colborne.

Not sure there is a high potential reward. He's barely been relevant for two seasons in Ottawa and isn't really very young by current NHL standards. This is a depth move, nothing more. No reason to be excited or upset.

Well, one more guy for Gulutzan to add to the revolving door of the the Calgary Flames' top line RW spot. Based on past production, he may surprise there. I think he will end up on Bennett's line though.

Alex Chiasson signs a $800,000, one-year deal with #flames. Below his QO of $1.2M.
excellent deal

I get that but it's one less roster spot but I have a feeling that they will want to try Chaisson on the third line.
I don't hold Colborne's end of the season run in high regard fwiw. I think he is a decent 35-40 point 3rd liner but the difference in cap hits between the two players may be a much bigger difference than their actually abilities in the ice.
I'm starting to think the Flames are consolidating cap space for a run at one of the UFA forwards.

I would hope not. Colborne looks like he's finally putting it together.
I don't buy the 'put up his points in garbage time' argument - points scored after the trade deadline still count. It tells me he kept working. I'd be more troubled if he had 25 points by Christmas and then mailed it in in the second half.
No way Chiasson spells the end of Colborne, in my view anyway.

If Chiasson is replacing Bollig, then I like this trade. Otherwise, indifferent.

What's not to like, Flames get a NHL ready RW for a long shot d-man in Sieloff.

800k - you don't give a guy 4th line money expecting him to be a 2nd line solution.

Yeah, great deal. Colborne just lost any leverage he had. I think he either signs in next hour, is traded or isn't qualified at all.

Not bad. We needed RW depth, Chiasson is big and can skate, and Sieloff probably wouldn't have made the team anytime soon.
Would anyone be shocked if we end up with Patrick Wiercioch too? He wasn't qualified by Ottawa either.
