Hextall was previously an NHL studio host on Sportsnet in Canada. Before that, she worked as an anchor at NESN covering Boston sports. Hextall’s grandfather Bryan Hextall is in the Hockey Hall of Fame and her cousin Ron Hextall is a former goalie for the Flyers.

Hopefully TSN picks her up - I think she was really good, and not just when she called out the Oilers either.

I can't see her out of work for long. Someone somewhere will pick her up.

Pretty crappy to let her go but she'll get work somewhere else. She's a personality you'd want on air. Smart, knows her ####, not afraid to speak the truth, and looks good on TV.

David Shoalts ‏@dshoalts
Look for Rogers to be particularly merciless with cuts to the Sportsnet regional broadcast crews and the freelancers.

She was really solid. The most knowledgeable of any female anchor of SN. And more knowledgeable than most of the men. Miles ahead of Strombo in the interviewing or running a panel discussion as well.

What a joke..

The tweet that was originally in the first post was a different one. The OP corrected it since then.

So, how do we get the ESPN feed with Hextall and Chelly in Canada?

Given the lengths that the Oilers propaganda machine operates at, I wouldn't at all be surprised if her Oiler comments lead to this.

Pathetic.

One of the only half decent hosts/panelists on sportsnet's train wreck coverage off the ice.

There's not much on face value to justify this unless it's more cost cutting and she won't be replaced but I really hope it wasn't the Oilers criticism. Katz and Lowe are so averse to criticism I'm surprised they haven't waged war on internet messageboards.

The Flames need to move over to TSN asap. When is their contract with Rogers over again?
