Well it was fun while it lasted, but this was inevitable for Hungary. I'm just glad they are at least back in the conversation after so many years lost in the wilderness. Being in the Top 16 was a total bonus.
Not if only Canada could make a push towards respectability too.

Wow, congrats you made a 50-50 proposition bet and managed to be right. Croatia and Portugal both came out flat and didn't create much, but Croatia was very unlucky with some near miss headers and hitting the post before the goal scored on counter.

Took me a while to find a team since the Netherlands didn't make it. Going for Portugal because everybody hates them and I've always kind of liked Ronny. I'm 1/4 Fleming but Fellaini's hair makes me ill so ef Belgium.

An Ode to Gabor Kiraly:
Quote:
In sweatpants as wet as a sodden French pitch,
You entertained the masses with efforts last ditch,
With a smile like an angel and a body like a dad,
You've unknowingly started the latest fashion fad,
Very little was expected of you and the rest,
Ten saves against Belgium was a tournament best,
Heroic performances atop sartorial lists
Gabor Kiraly, your presence will be missed

At this point I'd rather Lallanas work ethic over Sterling.

Well seeing as neither Lallana or Sterling are any good at actually finishing, but that Sterling gives you nothing else whereas Lallana can actually create for others, predictably puzzling decision from Hodgson.

would rather just put another midfielder there to play beside Rooney and let Alli more freedom
Walker/Rose give enough width

Italy dominating early on. De Gea keeping Spain in it for now.

Is a bicycle kick usually called for a high foot - hit the post anyways but if that went in probably some controversy there.
Rain benefits Italy IMO - wet sloppy play benefits their style more than the Spanish tiki taka.

except i find Spain more dangerous when they don't play tiki taka, they just refuse to believe it themselves

I don't watch a lot of soccer but the commentators for the Italy/Spain game are doing very little to keep me from changing the channel. Could these guys get any more boring?

Finnish broadcast has the wonderful option of turning the announcers off and just listening to the stadium sounds. I wish I had this more often.
