Would you trade either of Gaudreau or Monahan for him?

No but what does that have to do with them being contract comparables?

considering what Yandle made, that's a great contract.

He definitely gave a discount for an internal budget team.
I would still expect Monahan at 6.5, Gaudreau at 7.5.

Still have no idea what the heck Washington was smoking when they made that trade.

Perfect comparable for Monahan and gives a good starting point for Gaudreau.
Gaudreau: 142 points in the last two seasons.
Forsberg: 127 points in the last two seasons.
Monahan: 125 points in the last two seasons.

Presumably a player's value has something to do with the contract he's offered? They're both clearly better players. Gaudreau is a full step above. I suspect he'll get a fair bit more money.

Considering Treliving is well versed in the arcane arts I'm hoping for similar deals for both Monahan and Johnny G. Bridge deals are for players where you really don't know what you have, such as Colborne. We could be laughing for the next 5-8 years if we can lock up future stars on the "cheap" á la Dougie, TJ.

Let's sign Monahan to the same deal. Johnny can go $7 x 6.

Filip Forsberg does not have any no-trade or no-move protection in the final year of his new deal with #preds.

seems an odd way to look at it...
trade value does not necessarily dictate contract value
and yeah Gaudreau will probably get more money, but this sets the floor for him.. especially if he and Monahan want to sign identical deals like he stated they might do to the media.

Nice! This and the Barkov contract suggest that the Monahan contract could be reasonable
