Put me on the list of people who thought Lost in Translation was a yawner. It was an ok movie, but it wasn't great. Alot of people loved O Brother, Where art Thou? I wasn't one of them. To me, Shrek was overhyped, as was The Princess Bride.

Let's see here, what else. Oh, how about Vanilla Sky? I couldn't stand this movie. I was bored with it rather quickly and zoned out halfway inbetween. I watched it with a group of about 5 other people and they all raved about it, I just didn't get it.
Agreed.

It's the only movie I've ever walked out on in a theatre.

A more recent movie that disappointed me was Ladder 49. A lot of people I know who saw it were really impressed by this movie. I have a feeling I might be the only one that was disappointed by it.

Booooo! I thought Vanilla Sky was a great movie.

Forrest Gump on the other hand was awful. The sequels (Forrest Hump, Forrest Rump) were way better, although a lot more sexually explicit. [/b][/quote]
Weird, movie tastes are so different between people. It's really very interesting. I love Forest Gump, was it a good movie? I'm not sure but I really enjoyed it and can watch it again and again.

Vanilla Sky, that was to me, a really stupid movie, I remember a couple of people saying "oh you probably just didn't get it, it's complicated" lol.. I got it, just thought it was lame..

MMF, Eternal sunshine didn't do much for me either. So much that I can't actually recall why because I barely remember it.

I find often the moives I enjoy the most are the ones I watch knowing absolutely nothing about. Then it doesn't have to be a really good move to be enjoyable. As long as it's not jusk you get some satisfaction from it. Brigning expectations into a move usually leads to dissapointment. (hmmm that comment kinds sounds like it was from a movie "lets not complicate things by bringing expectations into it.."??)

Monster's Ball - didn't like it.

You're kidding right? Hallie Berrie and Billie Bob Thorton were amazing in that film.

True true -- I probably shouldn't have said it was awful because it is a "taste" thing. Also, I think Forrest might have suffered in my eyes because of the intense amount of hype and those gawdamn catchphrases " life is liike a bowx of chock'lits" that nearly drove me off the deep-end.

My choices would be:

Lord of the ring.........snoooooooooze.

Kill Bill..........if it didn't have Tarantino's name on it it would've went straight to VHS. Pure crap.

The Passion; 2 hour long torture scene, terrible acting and camera work. You call that a movie Mel?

Mystic River; again a movie that got hype because of Clint Eastwood. Bad story, ok acting and just a silly ending. Eastwood should drop directing, he blows at it.

Mystic River! Perfect example of a movie I thought was awful. So many people LOVED it. I agree with your discription.

Yeah, I forgot about that one. Absolutely gorgeous in the look of the film, the subtle special effects of the star, beautiful ambient soundtrack, but boring as hell.

Life is Beautiful... Juvenile pile of steaming ka ka. What Tinky Winky did during World War 2.

Chicago... Broadway musicals need to stay on Broadway.

I hated Forrest Gump and Philadelphia.

Mystic River was also boring. I don't get how people thought this was so good and the Sean Penn deserved an Oscar.

The Royal Tennebaums was awesome I loved it but realise why many people wouldn't.

I got the Royal Tenenbaums, I still didn't care for it much. I never understood the arguement for not getting a movie when you don't like. I am hoping Wes Andersson does much better with the Life Aquatic.

dashing, could it just involve different tastes. Movies are not the same for everyone.

Contact is a great choice, what a piece of crap.
Kevin Smith movies (all of them) - I really don't see the facination with them.

Mallrays, Chasing Amy, and Dogma were all great movies. Clerks was awesome in an indie type of way.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike back was pure garbage.

Mystic River. Wow sh*tty sh*tty ending.

Lord of the Rings - got dragged out to each one by friends and fell asleep halfway through each one. If I have to watch Orlando Bloom attempt a Eurotrash accent again I might jsut kill myself.

Good thing I never saw Pirates of the Carribean.

Your the first person I know that liked contact. Hell actually your the first person that really liked any Jodie Foster movie from the past 10 years. Honestly I can't think of a really good movie with her in it, maybe panic room although that was pretty stupid.
