Hey CGY, your RW depth is depressing, how do you plan to address this?
Flames: "Let it rot"
Kind of frustrating.

Well so much for Day. I guess they figured he was a rotten apple or something. Probably not going to slip to us in 4th.

most wingers this day in age play both wings effectively. Most centermen also convert fairly easily to the wing.

Not really sure why they went with a short D-man. He is a highly skilled defenseman, but he's only 5'10". Not a great slapper, but it's decent. Put up 59 points in the USDP

Skilled d-man. Glad to see the team is going skill over size.

You don't draft for current need. A second or third rounder isn't going to fix any problems you have today.

Didn't you answer that yourself with the highly skilled part?
Also, honestly not worried about a guy lacking a slap shot. Hamilton has a good hard accurate snap and wrist shot that is superb to most guys blazers from the point. Getting it on net is much more important than some hard slapper that misses.

You're not filling any holes at this point. You pick the best players.

I disagree. They have no depth in the system so tomorrow still needs to be fixed as well. But whatever, I must be stupid.

Draft BPA.
Trade to address positional need.

Furthermore it's doable to get decent wingers in free agency & trade, but harder to acquire solid defencemen and centers. Who knows, Dube could potentially turn into an Andrew Shaw.

I'd imagine securing a steady flow of skilled puck movers on the back end are a part of the grand strategy for the Flames moving forward as they try to implement a more modern, puck control-focused playstyle. You see it with the Andersson selection and trade up for Shillington last year, the way GG talked at his introductory presser. Your D don't all have to be big anymore.

We have as many RW as LW in the minors, so this no depth thing is pretty much a figment of your imagination.
Shinkaruk and Klimchuk play both LW & RW, Hathaway, Poirier, Smith and Carroll are all RW. Harrison is RW in the NCAA. That's even ignoring guys like Shore and F. Hamilton. The only place we lack RW is in the NHL and pretty much even then just the first line.
