Default Oilers select PLD/Tkachuk & Flames pick Nylander preferred?

I know most prefer Tkachuk over Nylander but that is at the expense of the Oilers getting Puljijarvi. So that is a major letdown for me. Would you rather have the Oilers pick Dubois or Tkachuk leaving us with Nylander (or Juolevi)? Or would you prefer the scenario that actually played out?

I know there are rumours that the Oilers would have picked Sergachev and that we would've ended up with Tkachuk anyway so that's obviously the #1 preference. But would you be happy to downgrade our pick to a Nylander (or Juolevi) so the Oilers wouldn't get that big, two-way RWer they desperately needed to play on McDavid's wing?

I think both have top line potential, always pick the one that's tougher to play against and North American IMO
Really hope he becomes a Perry/Roberts etc.
Sounds like he is a real competitor.

No i'm ok with how things played out, I think Oilers are really missing out not drafting Sergachev.

I prefer getting the better player. Nothing against Nylander, but Tkachuk IMO is a much better fit for Calgary and I'm really happy that he fell to 6. Puljujärvi falling to the Oilers sucks, but I'm sure they'll find a way to mess it up.

just really happy how things played out yesterday. Getting Tkachuk and Elliott for 6 and 35 was excellent value.

Oilers have had #### load of players drafted in the top 5 that have sucked.

Did this keep you up last night? What have the Oilers done in the last decade to make you worry about anything?

I'm perfectly fine with how things turned out. So the Oilers have a forward picked in the top 5, add him to their collection. They added to what is already a strength, so they really didn't get any better.

Yes Oilers getting Puljijarvi sucked. Him playing along side McDavid is going to be quite a combo. That said flames needed a power forward in the worst way. Don't care how they got one, as long as they got one, and they did.

Plus if it had gone down the way you said, i had the feeling flames would have gone with Juolevi over Nylander. Not saying Juolevi is not a good pick, but i would have wanted Nylander.

If you want to feel good about a team getting screwed then look at the Canucks. Not saying Juolevi is not a good pick, but i'm 99% certain that they wanted Dubios. If Columbus had picked Puljijarvi, i truly believe the canucks would have taken Dubios.

Very happy with Tkachuk.
Had Tkachuk been taken, as opined earlier, believe Keller would have been the better choice than Nylander.
Phoenix thought so, also.

In the realm of plausible scenarios, we got the best player we could have hoped for at 6, and even then it took two teams ahead of us going off the board a little. Can't control what Columbus and the Oilers do, so no point worrying about them.

We filled a major need. That's all that matters.

I'm very happy with the scenario that played out. We got the forward we coveted and the one which it was realistic to hope we snagged and we did it without giving up extra assets. Thats a win.

I don't care about the Oilers as much as others, but look at it this way: The Oilers were set to add a decent blue chip prospect to their defensive pool. They needed to do that. I don't blame them for adding Puljujarvi, I would have done the same. But it doesn't address their critical need, which adding Sergachev would have done. They still have no defensive depth, they still haven't addressed their blueline, they still have their damaged core(Hall, Eberle, Yak, RNH). They are no more improved for adding Puljujarvi in my opinion. Until they trade 2-3 of their old core and until they get some serious help on the blueline, they will continue to suck.

We improved yesterday, they didn't as much as they could have done. We win in my opinion.

As annoying as it is to see Edmonton constantly seeming to get high end forwards, there are 28 other teams we also have to compete with.

All Calgary (and its fans) should care about is making the flames as complete a team as possible so that we can win the Stanley cup. There's no way I would wish for a worse result just so Edmonton couldn't have puljujarvi.

It helps reading all these positive comments about how the draft played out. But, speaking for myself, I probably would have came out enjoying it more had Edmonton taken Sergachev or Tkachuk themselves while Calgary ended up with Juolevi, Keller, or Nylander. That's just the sense I get. At the end of the day, I don't feel the excitement for Tkachuk that I felt for Bennett or Monahan.

I don't care about the Oilers that much. Its a devil's bargain to say lets make Edmonton worse off by making Calgary a poorer team.

The Oilers are irrelevant. I'd be more concerned if they had traded #4.

Oilers had a prime opportunity to address their needs on D and they didn't. How much value did 4 have when Puljujarvi fell? A good GM would have deals lined up in that event. You have to think someone out there would've coveted Puljujarvi+Draisaitl for instance. The Oilers are like that friend who is addicted to crack. Except they're actually your enemy and you don't care if they OD. Is the goal to build a top9 of golden children so Katz can run his fingers through their hair or what? Their problems are so easily solvable it's pathetic and sad. Literally any other franchise would've bit the bullet by now to fix the team.

Being upset about the Flames getting better because Edmonton benefited simultaneously is pathetic. There are 28, soon 29 other teams to beat besides them, and Tkachuk is going to help us do that.

I don't care about what the Oilers do. So they got lucky again. I'm being more they get lucky again at next year's draft because on the ice they suck. There is still lots wrong with that team and one draft pick isn't going to change that.

I absolutely love what the Flames did yesterday. I'm over the moon with Tkachuk and Elliot and think both fit perfectly on this team. If looks to me that the Flames are being built the right way and are bring positioned for sustained success. We have stud players at multiple positions and at young ages.

Edmonton can keep doing what they are doing. If they move Hall I might start to worry a bit but honestly I'm not going to until they actually push for the playoffs.

I can't help but wonder what the Jackets disliked about Puljujaarvi. It might end up being curse for the Oilers if the BJs know something they didn't.

I couldn't be more happy with Tkachuk though. I had my heart set on Dubois or Tkachuk, but I thought there was less than a 50% either would be there at #6.
