Has there been any news on Grant? He was great in the AHL, but didn't show much in the NHL, imo.

Kudos to scorpion, fire of Phoenix, and Alberta beef for picking Elliott back in early April. Gaskal gets the bag for saying we would never get Elliott back in April

No jooris anywhere? He had a lousy sophomore year, but I think he plays.

Grant is a UFA and very unlikely to be back. He has said he wants to play in the NHL next year and he knows the Flames have too much depth at center.

Will be nice when they get Johnny, Mony and Colborne's contracts done so the picture becomes clearer, but this is roughly what it looks like at the moment if Tkatchuk and Shinkaruk can force their way onto the roster.

1. Gaudreau (6,750,000) - Monahan (6,750,000) - Shinkaruk (863,333)
2. Colborne (2,800,000) - Backlund (3,575,000) - M. Frolik (4,300,000)
3. Tkatchuk (925,000) - S. Bennett (925,000) - M. Ferland (825,000)
4. L. Bouma (2,200,000) - M Stajan (3,125,000) - J Jooris (1,000,000)

Extra - Bollig (1,250,000) - Hathaway (619,000)
In Limbo - Raymond (3,150,000)

1. Giordano (6,750,000) - Hamilton (5,750,000)
2. TJ Brodie (4,650,400) - Wideman (5,250,000)
3. Jokipakka (900,000) - Engelland (2,916,667)

Extra - Wotherspoon (900,000)
In Limbo - Smid (3,500,000)

1. Elliot (2,500,000)
2. Ortio (800,000)

Total against cap - $73,045,400 (25 players)

Starting to wonder if they are even planning on moving Wideman. Might not be the worst idea to hang onto him in hopes he bounces back, and as just a pure rental maybe they can maximize his return at the deadline depending on how the team is doing?

that would be a whole lot better with Ericsson, Lucic, Okoposo or Brouwer on the RW and Wideman traded. Is Wotherspoon worse than Wideman? After last season, I don't think so. Jokipakka can play in the top 4 with Hamilton or Gio. Wotherspoon and Engelland together or mix it up, it will be interesting to see what Gulutzen does.

Ideally, trade wideman for anything at this point and sign one of those 4 to play on the RW (move Johnny to RW if we get Lucic).

I agree. Also because I think he'd be hard to move, but surely he comes in with some attitude and piss and vinegar and if we're lucky, can hit the net

I'll give this a shot.

I was hoping Shinkaruk would get a shot with Bennett but now I want him getting a shot with the top line to see if he can earn it.

Bollig demoted.
Wideman bought out.
Smid LTIR.
Hamhuis 1 year 4 mill.
Perron 3 years 12 mill.

O total = 39.1
Gaudreau (7) - Monahan (7) - Shinkaruk (1) = 15
Colborne (3) - Backlund (3.5) - Frolik (4.3) = 10.8
Ketchup (1) - Bennett (1) - Perron (4) = 6
Ferland (1) - Bouma (2.2) - Hathaway (1) - Stajan (3.1)= 7.3 (bottom 4 rotation)

D total = 24.3
Giordano (6.8) - Brodie (4.7)
Hamhuis (4) - Hamilton (5.8)
Kevin (1) - Nakladal (1)
Wotherspoon (1)

G Total (3.5)
Elliott (2.5)
Ortio (1)

Total = 66.9
Add Raymond's demoted 2.2 = 69.1
Add Wideman's buyout 1.3 = 70.4

Leaves 2.6 mill for Vegas party and potential bonuses for Bennett/Shinkaruk/Kethcup. Home sweet Home!

I do not want David Perron anywhere near this team.

You burying Stajan, trading him, or buying him out? Or is he the 2nd extra forward?

Pick one. There are others better suited to his role.

If Jooris wants anymore than league minimum, you let him walk.

Hard to pick one of these actually and I'll tell you why. If you bury him in Stockton then say bye-bye to any chance of him getting picked in the expansion draft by Vegas. Not to mention, if he's in Stockton for the year he will be 100% untradeable for sure.

Trading him is almost impossible at this point because of his contract & what he is as a player unless you want to take back a similarly horrible contract, and if he gets bought out this June the team is stuck with his damn buyout penalty for 4 more years.

Yeah. It's not as easy as we'd like it to be.

Best thing to do I think is keep him for this year then expose him to the expansion draft. And if he doesn't get picked up by LV, then buy him out NEXT June.

He's played well enough to earn an extension, but nothing more than a milli.

Would Columbus take him and a low 2017 pick for Hartnell?

I'd say he's played well enough to earn a 1-way contract, but nothing more.
He is a dime a dozen player.

Stajan is a leader on this young squad, he isn't going anywhere. The management group and coaches like him and as much as we want him moved it won't happen.

I agree he's a good 4th liner that can kill penalties and is quick which I'm guessing Gulutzan will like.
