Tampa Bay too. Toronto and Calgary using 2nds and 3rds to acquire goalies has screwed them royally ... the goalie market has dried up.

Glad we didn't get anchored with a 7x7 Bishop or a choker in Fleury. As long as Elliott has D support in a Gulutzan system, he should fit in very well.

I like it. Elliot is an upgrade over last season and is motivated to carry the load as the season progresses.
There's still going to be good goalies available next season and as trading deadline approaches, it'll be an even better buyers' market.

Love this trade, didn't give up much and I don't see a problem signing him. Nice job Treliving.

Wish he had more than one year on his contract, will be asking for Bishop money next year especially if he does well.

I agree. I think with a better system, he'll be more than competent in net and the Flames will be much better for it.

And a heck of a goalie. Loved talking the position to him every day. A pro. A kind man that Calgarians will love ! @NHLFlames

I was hoping for Bishop. But looking at the cost it took and how well Elliott has played, this is a huge win for the Flames. Huge.
Nothing but praise for BT today.

Perfect! Avoided the most overrated goalie Andersen, the most(soon to be) overpayed goalie Bishop, and the biggest choker Fleury.

That's why you extend him now.

Awesome to see the Flames get a starter for so little after all these rumours about trading the 1st for more expensive guys. Sign Elliot to a reasonable two-year extension and hopefully Gillies will be ready to take over. I wonder if they will go for a more experience guy to backup instead of Ortio. Probably would be wise.

If he's great, extend him, if not maybe Gillies is ready the next year. Or go as a tandem for a few years to ease in Gillies.
Reimer or Ortio this year as backup?
Also gives us cap flexibility to sign a Lucic or Backea this year potentially.
Really like the move.

they could arguably get a bigger return at the deadline though. A bit of a risk to hold off til the end though

Tkachuk + Elliott >>>> Just Fleury or Bishop.
Solid.

Absolute steal. There is no doubt Blues wanted Flames first. Once Treliving made the pick. STL accepted his counter offer 2nd and conditional 3rd in 2018.
Flames will gladly give up the 3rd to sign him to an extension.
Last year Hamilton this year Elliott.
Tkachuk and Elliott that is a couple big off season priorities checked off.
