Teams are scared of defensemen with questionable toolboxes. You just don't develop into a first-pair defenseman if you lack the smarts.

Again, understandable. But I'd be willing to take the risk of finding somebody better. I just don't think you want your top 10 pick to end up as a Bjugstad.

And I'm just referring to comparing a player like Bjugstad to the use of a top 10 pick.
