Why stop at Tkachuk? Thrown in Hamilton and Bennett in there too, then it looks phenomenal.

I think they can still sign Reimer and have a great 1A/1B tandem. Reimer still has nowhere else to really sign, and he can't demand a lot because there are literally no #1 jobs available now.

It's not steep. Such a fascination with picks on draft day. Fact is you got a starting goaltender for a player with a pretty low shot at being an NHL player. And even if he is, you likely have 3 or 4 versions of him in your system already. Goaltending was a need and now it's done. Don't we have 3 2nd rounders? It's all good people. All good.

Love it.
Reasonable cost in return for a goalie who is clearly a competitor and will be motivated.

Goalie Brian Elliott goes to the Calgary Flames. St. Louis gets Calgary's 2nd round pick (No. 35) and a conditional 3rd round pick in 2018.

Hutton would be a good choice there too. I'm not ready to give up on Ortio either

Did you not watch Elliot and his play in the playoffs? He was a huge part of the reason why the Blues got as far as they did in the playoffs. He's also going to be super motivated with coming to Calgary and not have to deal with the BS he had to endure in St Loo.

Elliot will be a really good mentor to Gillies. Similar style. I really like this pick up.

So where's the fancy stats adjusted high risk save % unreadable bubble chart thing to tell us if Elliott is the real deal or not?

If he hadn't played so well in the second round, the Blues could have got 25th overall instead of 35th for him.

I agree with you on Hutton. I disagree on Ortio though, I'm more than willing to move on from him.

Freidman nailed this. I thought it'd cost more but, well, there it is

All those extra second round picks are sure nice to have as bargaining chips.

No, look at it this way: Elliott and Tkachuk and Gaudreau for 35! Wow what a deal!

I'm fine with keeping Ortio. But I wouldn't be against them looking for another guy. Even signing Reimer short term would be fine.
