Interesting move by Montreal. Clearing a roster spot?

Er, no. Backlund has more points in fewer games, is a far better defensive player, takes way less penalties. I think Backlund is a far superior player.

Which really makes this a strange trade because two 2nds seems like alot.

Agreed, this is too much for Eller. Habs got a minor steal on this one.

I get that Eller is still fairly young, but this is a significant and kind of steep price to pay for Washington and Eller is not really that close to the talent of Johansson is as a player, and I don't feel Eller is worth 2 seconds. Caps got robbed again IMO.
I'm doubting this bet pays off very well.

McLellan has sure made some head scratchers but they seem to pay off.

Am I missing something with Eller? A fair bit to play for a bottom 6 forward. Not exactly sure if he's even a need for that team.

He's a skilled guy who I'm not sure was utilized to his full potential in MTL. In the right situation I think he can be a 2nd line LW/C at a reasonable price.

Nope. It is too much to give up for that guy. He's not worth 2 2nds. He's not that good.

Weird trade. They still have to lock up Johansen and Orlov long term, as well as a massive pay raise coming to Alzner soon. Are they seriously giving up on Johansen? He is much better than Eller, just don't see how they fit it all in
