Bishop - 6 years @ $6.75 million

Mony - 8 years @ 6.75 million (buying a couple more UFA years)

Hey, I hope Big Ben gets his 7x7, just not from us.

People who don't want one of the best goalies in the league because of nothing more than money are insane. He'd be worth every penny and makes Calgary an instant contender.

7 x $7 is crazy. Luongo showed much more and we ripped his contract to shreds at the time. I don't see how giving that length is worthwhile. 4 years, tops. 7 years? Walk away and look at mediocre Elliott.

Except it is for 7 years.
The only players I want signed for deals that long are youngens like Johnny and Mony. Not someone who could very likely end up being an anchor in 3 seasons. Think Luongo in Vancouver.

Except for handing a big-dollar 7 year deal to a 29 year old on the back of two very serious knee injuries.
Where is Khabibulin?

I honestly don't care about the term. They could very well win the cup in the first year of the deal. It would make it all worth it.

Much more?? Lounge has won nothing his entire NHL career and his deal was inked more than five years ago.

You are much more optimistic than seems reasonable.
Contender? Cup winner? You know we just finished 26th in the league right?

Bishop will be 31 in year 1 of his next deal. a 7 year deal takes him to his 38 year old season.
How do you feel about paying 7 million dollars a year for a 38 year old goaltender? Our own kipper was washed up by around 35. Hiller fell off the map at 34.
The term is the killer, not the money.

I'll say it again, he's one of the top goalies in the league. A perennial Vezina winner.
This isn't some schlub we're talking about here.

Ben Bishop would be a literal game changer for us. Him, and further year of development from our young core of Monahan, Gaudreau, Bennett, Brodie and Hamilton and we are a much better team instantly. One more top 6 piece and we should be a very good team.

I firmly believe Vezina goaltending would solve that in an instant.

Except Luongo was terrible because he played in Vancouver, not because of his contract. Also, salaries change in a cap market.
100% on the Bishop train.
