The Subban example probably isn't tampering per se, but it's horribly unprofessional. The Stamkos one is in the same vein as Wilson's comments about the Sedins which he (or the team, I don't remember which) got fined for. I expect something similar will happen with Benning, though who knows, they might take pity on a guy who sounds like he'd need to take his shoes off to count past 10.

I predict the NHL won't punish the Canucks for tampering because having Benning as their GM is punishment enough.

Don't think they'll throw the book at the Canucks but something definitely will be done. Likely a fine with them losing no draft picks.

You are probably right. I would like to see the fine at least come off their salary cap or something though. A fine really just means that you can tamper as long as you want to pay for it while not really affecting anything.

Reducing their salary cap space would probably help the team in the long run. Less money for Benning to blow like a drunken sailor on quick fixes come July 1st.

They fine probably won't be disclosed publicly...Unless Benning blurts it out.lol
But you want their cap to be 72,990,000.00 as punishment? That's kind of weird.

A low cap isn't going to prevent him from moving a 2nd round pick for the rights to Jesse Ninimaki, but I guess it will prevent him from signing Jesse Ninimaki to a 4 year deal for 3.5 per.

We beed more GMs like him to enhance our chances of playoffs. We want people like him to make more mistakes like increase the trade value of our players like the Russell package and they got nothing for Dan H.

I'm convinced that it was Ken King that actually hired Benning as the GM of the Canucks.

I really hope the NHL nails them for this just so that Canuck fans will go full Canuck fan and start bitching about conspiracies against them.
