I have a feeling things will not be as exciting as we all hope. I think we will get a goalie and another RW that will be top 9 via trade of picks/prospects/non core and otherwise draft where we slot in. However I really DO hope that I am wrong when all things are said and done.

I feel bad for Treliving. After he blew everyone away with the Hamilton trade last year his expectations are pretty high. It's going to be much harder to impress this year.
He doesn't have to do anything to impress anybody. He has to try to improve the team. Some years a good deal is there to be had, and some years, improving the team is not making a trade for the sake of making a trade.
But... With all the talk going on you have to suspect that something will happen, and you can guarantee that people will be disappointed if the Flames stand pat... even if they still get their players in August and come out looking rosey. People will still feel scorned because it didn't happen right away.
Trying to work is getting to be difficult. I am hitting F5 repeatedly hoping to see some news.
Six and a half hours to go!
Honestly think this is a good sign that it seems like a slow day so far. Probably means Treliving has stopped his cloak and dagger tactics with rumor spreading to disrupt division rivals, and is actually working hard on putting potential deals together.

When the dust settles, the Flames will have 3rd pick overall, Sergei Bobrovsky, Hartnell.

Treliving just needs to think outside the box.
When it is time for the #2 pick he just needs to punch Chevy and run up on stage and announce that the Flames have picked Laine. That'd be a coup. We used to talk about how Darryl could do whatever he wanted. Treliving is going to eclipse that by a long way.
The league needs to change the whole 'lets get evryone who works for the team to trudge up on stage, look awkward, have a little speech prepared that are all basically identical before announcing their pick, then all wait for the kid to take pictures'
NBA and NFL do it better. Just my two cents.

You should forfeit your pick if you a) congratulate the city, team and fans for their wonderful hospitality or b) congratulate the Stanley Cup champions.
And their should be a max of 3 people on stage. I don't want to see the head scouts nephew up there taking pictures with the new draft pick.
Oh, and the NFL does it awful, the Commish should not be announcing the picks. Does the NBA do it that way too? Almost as bad as giving the trophy to the friggin owner.

Totally. Especially "we'd like to congratulate the .... for winning the Stanley Cup." Barf.
