I haven't been seen these amount of rumors and excitement around the draft/UFA period since the Darryl Sutter days. Say what you will about him, but for many years in a row, he seemed to find a way to steal a draft day or a UFA day here and there, and it was an exciting time as a fan.

• At 1:06pm, McKenzie and Friedman both tweet that Calgary is making a push to get a deal done.
  
• At 1:10pm, Friedman tweets that the trade call is starting.
  
• Then, a brief period of anxiety ensues as people speculate on the possible return.
  
• At 1:24pm, Boomer from the Fan tweets that the return is only picks ... and CP breathes a sigh of relief and the rejoicing begins.

Pardon my ignorance, but why do the Flames own the 6th pick of every round except for the 2nd round (picking 35 instead of 36)?

That would be because Arizona received a 2nd round pick as compensation for one of their first rounders (Connor Bleakely I believe is his name?) not signing with them. Arizona's extra pick moves everyone else back one. The Flames are 5th in draft order but due to Winnipeg's lottery win the Flames moved back a spot to 6th in the first round.

I had a dream last night that I was traded to Columbus as part of the package for 3rd overall. I woke up very disappointed because I didn't want to move to Columbus.

Then I remembered that there's probably zero reason that Columbus would request me as part of the package for 3.

I'm not sure why type of omen this dream is.
