Guys, it is Dreger. He has been saying all kinds of crap trying to get something to stick as nobody in hockey circles buys what he is saying anymore. Dreger has become as reliable as Ektard.

"Wheres Darren?"

Darren is going away for a long time....

The resemblance is uncanny too.

I wonder how many of these they'll sell if Gio is traded to the Oilers? Ha Ha

If I'm the Flames GM, I'm making moves to get my team headed in the right direction, right now.

Why aren't you looking to try and win the Cup in the next 3-4 years?

I'm not saying it's the right move, but its an option to consider.

Dude, c'mon. Gio is still elite and a fitness freak, doubt there's a significant drop for at least 3 years. Brodie is in the 1st year of his extension. One of the best young D on an absolute killer deal. The team is already headed in the right direction and getting rid of these guys would accomplish the opposite. Just because your team can't develop a Dman to save their lives doesn't mean our GM will give you one of our best. An Oiler fan giving suggestions on the proper way to build a winner. Hysterical.

The amount of different scenarios is exciting in itself. Do Flames really draft a D at 6 (if they traded away Gio for 3 or 4)? Taking 2 RW in Puljujarvi and Nylander significantly bolsters the forwards, and maybe they're liking the development in Kylington and Andersson, plus with Kulak and Wotherspoon to slot in on the bottom pair, not to mention Wideman and Kevin/Nakladal...

I mean, they probably do take a Defenseman at 6, it's just half 1 in the morning over here and my mind's wandering.

Also, another wrinkle is Dan Hamhuis has very close ties to western canada due to his church. If the Flames traded a defenseman, Hamhuis would be a good #3 to fill a spot at least temporarily.

Demers is also likely to hit UFA

Could Arizonas new analytics based GM see enough value in corsi sweet heart Mikael Backlund plus something else that they would move 7.

It's pretty much impossible to say at the moment. There have only been about 20 defencemen that have hit 40+ points at the age of 35+ since the lockout though.

Father time is a real son of a bitch.

I wouldn't bet big dollars on Giordano not losing a step around 35ish.

Yes he is on a steal of a deal. It's best to push hard while you have a contract like that.

I didn't suggest getting rid of these guys. I don't know where you got that. I suggested making the most of the window that is open for the Flames at this moment.

Dunno about trading a defenseman, but wouldn't it be pretty sweet if Hamhuis came over on a discount of some sort and we could ice this defense?

Giordano - Brodie
Hamhuis - Hamilton
Jokipakka - Engelland

*Bishop

Default Dreger: Flames want another top 5 or 10 pick

Lowetide's draft prediction for tomorrow:

Draisaitl + Klefbom + 4th for Subban + 9th.

And pretty much all the comments are that it's too much and either Klefbom needs to be removed or Eller should be added.

Never change Edmonton.

that would be an awfully bold trade by both sides. MTL takes all the risk here, with Draisaitl still developing, and Klefbom coming off a season ravaged by injury.

Value is pretty fair though actually. I know my Edmonton fan friends would hate this though, they're in love with Klefbom.

You really think it's fair value? A Norris candidate for a 3rd year Center who had a ridiculous 2nd half drop off, and an injury prone D-man who's absolute peak is a #2 but more likely a #3-4. I don't know man. Maybe if it was Hall+Nurse+4th.

terrible deal for Montreal IMO. If you take out 9th, it's a different story.
