For Hamilton, I'd want Edmonton's next three first round picks and David Goddamn Putney because I feel like it

The rumor is the Flames want another pick from 5 to 10. Edmonton picks at 4. So I'm not sure why there is so much discussion about trading with edmonton. Shouldn't the discussion be about trading with Vancouver?

0 chance we move Hamilton one year removed from trading for him in a trade many saw as a coup. A larceny so grand that the rivals of Boston were expressing condolences.
0 chance he is moved. 0.

Zero???
Oilers were the other team chasing Douggie last year. If you can move him for max value and rip off Chia, you do it.

Or you just keep him and build the championship team that you envision. Not every trade is about asset management

Right now, I'd say that Dougie's max value, at least from the Flames' management's perspective, would be to be a pillar on the blueline next year on a potential playoff team.

I'm not saying move Dougie, but what if you can move him for Tkachuk. You don't have to protect him next year and you get to draft Joulevi to replace Dougie. That's asset management and the team gets better. It all depends on the offer.

Is he at a point where he would return "max value"? I'm not convinced, since he is still very young and could realistically continue to improve. So, I would think any return for Hamilton would have to be a MASSIVE overpay—the kind of deal that you cannot ignore. I do not think the #4 pick is that.

Perhaps Winnipeg or Columbus asked for say 2 top 10 picks for them to move their pick and so flames are exploring the options?

That's a massive "what if" situation. No guarantee the team will be better in the long run and they would certainly be worse next year. Expansion shouldn't even be a consideration in regards to Dougie.

And what if both of those guys bust. A young solid D man that can play now and only looks to get better for a chance at what you already have? Absurd. That's like Peter Griffin taking the mystery box hoping there's a boat in it.

Maybe Treviling thinks moving Hamilton, and spending his money on Bishop and say Lucic/Eriksson makes the Flames more competitive now, and they get another forward at #3-4 that should develop fast.
Giordano isn't getting any younger and Brodie only has 4 years left before he gets PAID.
If I'm the Flames GM, I'm making moves to get my team headed in the right direction, right now.
Why aren't you looking to try and win the Cup in the next 3-4 years?
I'm not saying it's the right move, but its an option to consider.
