Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
Treliving says it's a balancing act of timing and acquisition cost for goalies on move w/ expansion draft. Teams may wait til next deadline.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Treliving says he's not huge on the idea of moving #6 overall for a goalie. Says "we really like that spot". #Flames

Calgary Flames @NHLFlames
Brad Treliving says that while expansion does change the trade market, teams aren't "lining up" to move players.

What I got out of this is that he expects to trade for a goalie more than free agency but not for the 6th overall, but trading the 6th pick is possible (up or down)

we will likely have more news later today regarding the expansion and exception rules regarding the definition of 'PRO Years' after the managers meeting

Brad says they had discussions about buyouts but no decisions have been made yet.

That sounds to me like they would consider it if certain things cough*Hartnell*cough played out

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Just chatted with Craig Conroy, some good tidbits. Says goalie options have opened up significantly since expansion announcement.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Conroy says trade is the desirable avenue to acquire a goalie. Won't write off free agency but definitely a second choice.

Conroy Audio:

http://www.sportsnet.ca/960/calgary-...ptions-opened/

one interesting point he made was when that the options opening up could refer to goalies playing in the minors, not necessarily big names

"can't give everything away" for a goalie - still need to fill the prospect pipeline

Flames need a goalie, but I also hope they're looking hard for options at the wing positions. Gotta improve that if we want to be a playoff team.

I think Connie gave a ton of info there.

Want to go the trade route as first choice- makes me think they are targetting Bishop or MAF at this point. But.. They do not want to pay a large price due to potentially handicapping themselves with the expansion draft. If price is lower, its worth the risk.
Failing that, It sounds like they will target Reimer and hope he doesnt want 7 years.. And if so, may have to pay more for shorter term.

But... nothing is imminent and they are not feeling pressured to crumble to huge demands.

And they want a top 6 forward. one way or another coming out of this draft.

I don't think it's a stretch to believe that the 2 guys are Nylander and Joulevi.

Must mean that they dont have one of Tkachuk or Dubois in their top 6, meaning a a Dman is likely in there unless both Keller/Brown and Nylander are in that group.
