Nylander on the other hand is much more skilled, has a better shot and isn't really in the corners or in front of the net a whole lot. If anything I see Tkachuk as a more skilled version of Pavelski. Same type of player, great down low and in front of the net, not the best skater in the world.
Glad your opinion is so much more valuable than Button's.

Nylander isn't soft just because of his last name.

Tkachuk spent too much time being interviewed by Treliving.
After listening to Treliving, I'm beginning to develop an irrational hatred for processed cheese.

Why have message boards if the only opinions that matter are people who have been fired as GMs in the league. Just follow the 'pros' on Twitter.

Great, Keller is the best passer, but the Flames have plenty of that. We need shooters. That's why Nylander has the edge. One of the top shots in this draft.

Who are these great passers we have up front?

I mean if Keller actually is the best passer with the third best hockey IQ in the entire draft then we definitely do not have "plenty of that". That means he is a game breaker

Don't be silly. It's always rational to hate processed cheese.

The original poster implied the Flames have plenty of great passers which would indicate more than one. A multitude of great passers. Personally, I like Keller and his game breaking skill. I think Calgary should try to trade down and select him with their pick.

Johnny is an exceptional passer, one of the best in the league. Brodie and Gio are both great passers. Hamilton, Wideman, Monahan and Bennett are all well above average. I don't think he was way out of line to say we have a multitude. At least one of those guys is on the ice almost all game.

Personally I don't feel Hamilton, Wideman, Monahan and Bennett's passing ability are good enough reason to pass on a player like Keller if the decision is based on Calgary already having enough "great" passers. Keller is a smaller guy but is quite dynamic and could develop into one of Calgary's top playmakers.

Sorry, did I say "up front" ? No. Bur since you asked, Bennet, Gaudreau. Monahan , Backlund, Frolik are some great passers up front. Perhaps not on Keller's level but then again the Flames need a sniper. Cammy style. Nylander brings that over Keller. It's why Laine is the dreM pick for CGY and why Puljujarvi is Flames fan Viagra. They can shoot, Nylander is top five in this draft. We need that.

Just listened to Burke on TSN. He said that we'd have to wait to see what falls to us, thinking that would be one of the considered top 5. TSN brought up Juolevi which is Craig Button's pick in his mock draft. Burke said he could be it along with the three defencemen as well as Brown and Nylander. He said there isn't much difference between the 6th and the 8th or 9th pick so Treliving could trade down. The problem is the other teams probably see it the same way and so won't offer much.

Craig also said it isn't him following his brother's picks, it's his brother following his picks.

Well out of those 5 players i would want Nylander. That said i think flames go with Juolevi.

The only team i could see trading up is Montreal to get Brown. Even then they probably stay pat and hope Brown is there at 9. He probably will be, so really no reason to trade down.

A little of topic...

If the flames end up drafting at 6 OA what time does everyone think it will happen? I have to leave the house to go on a bit of a road trip at 6:00 MT. Also, will there be a radio show i can listen to on my phone that anyone knows about?

**NVM Should've read previous posts**

At this point... From all I've read and heard on CP, radio, and TV... If the flames pick 6th I'll be happy if they come away with any of Keller, brown, or nylander. They all have the upside the flames should target.

Nylander is the safest pick I think and fits the exact hole in the line up that the flames are looking to fill.

Keller seems like one of those Max Domi/Nic Ehlers kind of picks where lots of teams in the 4 to 9 range will regret passing over him if he doesn't go in that range.

Brown seems like the riskiest pick... I think he has range highest ceiling potential but also the lowest floor. Still worth the risk though I think cause he should end up a player either way.

Seems like folks will be mighty upset if they go D with #6. Which I get, but if they feel that's BPA they should do it.

If we can't move up to get Puljujarvi, and Tkachuk & Dubois are gone, I think Nylander is a great prospect for us.
