Default Bob's last day in Calgary

To conclude my Calgary trip to run into random ex-Flames at bizarre places before heading back to SF I, ran into none other than the inimitable Bob Hartley waiting in line to head back east. Being the shameless tool that i am I barged into line and asked him if it was a good time (of course it's not, but gave him a chance to tell me to piss off). He seemed genuinely happy to meet a fan, but sad to report he was only in town to complete his move home.

He was also kitted out in full Flames gear. I didn't have time to talk, but he seemed grateful for my thanks and sad to finally leave.

Jugo Juice was hoppin.

He will be missed, I liked him as the coach. Safe travels, Bob!

Brad better be right about this and GG better take this team to the next level.

Hartley will be missed for his quotes alone.

Building a championship team is a "process". You really hope that Bob Hartley helped to impart a work ethic in the core players that will sustain after his departure.

Here was a man who worked installing windshields in a factory before his coaching career took off. He didn't take a day in this league for granted, and knew the fortune and hard work required to succeed. Something that I think Giordano and him
shared and hopefully helps to shape our team into the future.

I hope he continues to take pride with any success this team earns over the coming years, and management continues to mention his name when doling out credit for success, like they still do with Feaster.

Wasn't sure where I sat with Bob Hartley when Feaster originally named him head coach, but in the end I'm ecstatic with his tenure and he certainly earned my respect and appreciation.

Thanks for everything Bob, may the cake be sweet for you!

Pretty telling about the kind of guy Hartley is that he's all decked out in Flames gear boarding the plane to leave the team behind forever.

I'm glad the Flames have moved on, but Hartley will be one of my favorite Flames coaches forever.

I'm still sad Bob get let go. Easily the most likable coach since the cup run. I understand the need to move on and to reach loftier goals. But deep down I was really hoping Bob would be the one to lead us to the promise land.

Most coaches I'm indifferent to when they get fired. But I genuinely liked Hartley. A lot.

Sad to see him go, but he truly bled the team's colors his entire him. Wish him nothing but the best and I hope I get to meet him one day.

By the end of last season we all knew that his system was not working. But I was only expecting some tweaks with coaches (special team coaches especially), not the sack.

Sad to see him go. Wish him all the best!

I think he already found one in Brad the porcupine Treliving.
Nice to hear he seems to be in good spirits so thanks for sharing sempuk. It's always sad seeing things end in a dismissal, but that's the nature of the profession he's in. I wish him well, i'm sure he'll land on his feet though.

Great coach for the motivation he brought to a young team and the progression that occurred under him. Just wasn't versatile and adaptable enough in his coaching style to keep up with the level of competition.

"Players coach" or not, he did get some unexpectedly great results here. Another young, fast team would do well to take him on.

I wasn't a fan of his system but I like the man and hope he finds work again in the NHL. I imagine it's a matter of time until the Montreal job opens up.

Bob thanks for torturing Torts in what amounted to seeing our team come together and then play some really inspiring hockey afterwards.

Thank god Big Ern prevented any stupidity from escalating in the hall outside the dressing room.

I would have enjoyed watching Bob feed Torts lefts and rights.

Never liked him as the Flames coach, but he seemed like a decent enough guy.

Best of luck to him.

The right guy at the right time. Took an unsteady team and injected them with positivity and work ethic and belief in each other.

Probably not the tactician he needed to be to go to the next level, but goddamn: I like Bob Hartley.

Would love him back in a player personnel role but behind behind a bench is in his blood. Wish him the best wherever he roams.

I was a big Bob fan, really hoping this is the right move for the team.

Just saw this on FB - looks like he left some suits behind https://www.facebook.com/mike.bezzeg...65510600160783
