Pretty gross pitch in Lille for Ireland/Italy. Cannot imagine Italy will be doing anything but playing very safe to avoid any injuries.

To be honest, I think McClean was looking for it and normally I would say it's not a peno, but the ref gave two very similar free kicks to the Italians for the exact same thing just before it. If you're gonna give them, you have to give the peno too.

Fair enough, I just hate his attitude that everything he does is fantastic and his teammates are garbage.
And on that note, this is a big thing that I dont like about this tournament, Portugal are qualifying on 3 draws. A team could literally show up, park the bus and make it to the knockout round. Thats ridiculous. Its embarrassing.

And are we not all in agreement that that is stupid? There is no reward for playing positively and trying to win.
A team could come in, park the bus, nab three 0-0s, and keep playing that way going for penalties. That would make for an awful tournament.

actually a team could get 2nd with 2 points (9-2-2-2)
I don't think a team tries to get 3 draws, it could be pretty risky cause 3 points might not be enough.
In the Copa America 2011 Paraguay made the final with 5 draws

So parking the bus isn't a very apt way to describe it.

I'm not saying that Portugal did that, I'm saying that using this format 'a team' could do that.
I understand that they played and they attacked, this isnt about Portugal its about how the format is diluting the quality of the play and the tournament.
