Why are we talking about 3-5 years? This assumes there is a relocation available today or next year.
No one is going to commit to paying $350 million right now to relocate a team 3-5 years down the line. They will pay right when the team is going to relocate.
If Quebecor takes ownership of the team, it pretty much signals the Hurricanes are done in Carolina. See a nosedive in ticket revenue.

Maybe Qubecor is there because they're getting an expansion team? I know there have been public comments about the steep price, but perhaps they've secured the funding. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

If this were the case, there would have been mention of this when the NHL BOG actually took their expansion vote last week.

Yeah. I mean, the idea that QC would get a franchise at the same time as Vegas never occurred to me until the chatter this morning. I can't imagine the chances for it are greater than 1%.

Agreed, but seems odd to drag out Quebecor reps and have a bilingual press conference just to say "Nope, better luck next time". Be interesting to see what is announced.
