Wow the McKeen's guy really not a fan of Brown at all and not as high on PLD, says McLeod is better. Interesting listen right now on 960.

I wasn't really impressed with his rationale. His arguments seemed amateurish.

Didn't like how he was bragging how much their list matches with McKenzie...
That shouldn't be a goal.

Thanks to everyone who purchased! We're in best-selling territory yet again! Couldn't do it without everyone's support on CP and the city of Calgary. Love the home support!

In his defense he said he personally saw McLeod play around 30 times so his opinions are based on watching some of the players and not solely 2nd hand information from scouts.

Lots of love on twitter for McLeod yesterday too - mentioned Bo Horvat and Dylan Larkin as comparable playstyles.
Guys who didn't put up huge points in draft year but play a fast, strong, gritty 200ft game and probably have more offense then they showed.
If there is a big offer to trade back to say 9 (I think Montreal wants to move up badly for Brown) then I have no issue falling back and taking Mcleod or maybe Keller is still there.

while I am a fan of Mcloed and still very interested in him, He is not a viable option right now at 6. However at 9 I would be very happy with this pick.especially if the Sizable offer to move down is exactly that.

Yup. This'll be the only post I make on McLeod until the draft.
The argument for his lower ranking as the U-18's came and went was his lack of offense. Which is fine. BUt There's really only maybe 2-3 players in this draft that have a better good foundation to their game.
You read with Nylander his game is all offense which is awesome and one of the most skilled players in the draft but not the best in the defensive zone. McLeod is an accomplished 200ft player and I think if I read things properly, one of the top 3 in this draft in that department.
People question Tkachuks skating over the majority of the top ten picks where he ranks maybe somehwere in the middle, McLeod is easily top 5 in this draft for skating.
People question Dubois aptitude as a C and as the McKeens guy points out, less than 40% on the faceoffs, McLeod is the go to guy for all faceoff scenarios and does it well.
Folks question Browns drive and compete, McLeod's MO on all reports is non stop motor and compete.
People don't like the size of Nylander, Tkachuk, Keller, Jost, Mcleod is Monahans size. Same height and weight in their respective draft years.
Hockey IQ is slightly above average. Something that folks have pinned as an issue on Chychrun.
He has more going for him than a lot of prospects except for offensive output, but if you're a believer in development and believe that taking the player with the most solid foundation overall to grow, McLeod has to be one of the most well rounded prospects in this entire draft. Perhaps he is like a few prospects where he spent too much time focusing on the 200ft game instead of putting up goals and assists, which isn't a problem IMO, He's doubled his output from his rookie season in his 2nd year.
Anyways, I like McLeod, everyone knows. I just believe he has such a sound all around package to bring to the table and he'll be one of the better players from this draft down the road.

I still believe McLeod looks like he has the ceiling of a 2nd line center to which is not really a need within the organization.

If we can't move up to 3 then personally I think we look at moving down if Dubois & Tkachuk are gone. IMO the three d-man and 3-5 forwards in that range area all pretty close, so gather assets if you can.
McLeod started to jump to me after watching some more of his highlights videos. Really reminded me of Larkin in the videos that I saw. Great speed, awesome work ethic, and just flying past guys.
Guys with his size, speed, work ethic, and hockey sense tend to become good NHLers.
Then I saw other people list comparables like O'Reilly, Kesler, & Horvat.
Maybe he isn't the PPG winger that the Flames need in our top 6, but maybe he becomes our 2nd line shutdown center and Bennett shifts to wing where he can use his elite creativity a little more.
I look at a scenario where Montreal offers up something like 9, 39, & 45 for 6.
Flames could then easily use 35 and a combo of our other 4 2nd rounders to move up and snag a guy like Gauthier.
If the tradedown to 3 isn't an option and the scenario available is 6, 35, 54, 56 in the first two rounds vs. 9, 35, 39, 45, 54, 56 then I know what direction that I am leaning. 5 picks in the 2nd round are huge currency for us to make deals, whether it be for a goalie, an RFA winger (Hayes/Kreider), or to package to move up into the first round (Gauthier)

The credibility of many of these scouting services is in question. Saw a post on HF from Mark Edwards of hockeyprospect.com that the only scouts he sees at the big events are from Redline. I wonder if McKegg scouts much outside of Ontario. Pronman has admitted to doing mostly video scouting.
Frankly if you can't scout these events in person then your credibility suffers. For this reason I like Redline, hockeyprospect.com, FC, and Craig Button way ahead of McKeens, ISS, etc.
Wasn't impressed by that McKegg interview, he seems a step down from Dan Marr of central scouting or Woodlief from Redline.

5 players that could slide. Seems reasonable to me if not already predicted on some rankings.
Quote:
With the 2016 NHL draft just a few days away(!), it's time we turn our attention to one of the more cruel annual traditions of the first round and beyond: draft day slides.
We see it every year: Cam Fowler, Brandon Gormley, Emerson Etem, Hunter Shinkaruk, Travis Konecny. The list goes on.
Let's take a look at some of the top-ranked players from this year's draft, and see which ones are candidates to continue the tradition.
