Some Dim Bulb in Tampa: Deal in the works for Ben Bishop?
Kevin ODonnell Fox13 @ODonnellFox13
Reports out of Canada have a deal in the works for the #Lightning to trade Ben Bishop to the Calgary Flames.
The guy is a TV anchor in Tampa.
Kind of hesitate to make it's own thread, because I am not sure what "reports" he is referencing.

I feel like this guy was likely fooled by the fake Blob Mckenzie twitter account - my guess would be nothing to see here.

I hope 6th overall isn't heading to Tampa... otherwise this is exciting!

Probably from McKenzie's last night. Who knows.
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
CGY obviously in market for goalie. Suspect they will or have talked to TB about Bishop:

Rutherford is gonna feel so silly when he sees the Flames didn't give up the 6th overall for a better goalie.

Good chance he is referring to Mackenzies tweet but I think this is a good topic to have a dedicated thread.
Scary the cost to acquire and the cost to re-sign but definitely the best goalie we could realistically get.
My hope is Treliving snags Bishop or Fleury at a discount as he plays Yzerman and Rutherford off each other.
Bishop might be available if Stamkos is going to stay otherwise I doubt he is moved

Much like Fleury, this shouldn't be any more than a 2nd and a prospect. The 6OA for Bishop is too much.

With the equipment change coming this may effect Bishop, don't know what to think. Just wish we could get Price or Hank.

Would do a late 2nd and a conditional 2017 1st( if he signs an extension by the draft).
EDIT - To give a bit of perspective on why they'd chase a goalie with only a year of contract left, perhaps they feel it prudent to give Gillies a full year of games in the AHL to decide how far off he is from NHL action, or if his game can translate to the NHL anyway.
If the cost isn't that high, Bishop could easily drag our team back into the postseason by himself. If he walks, the expansion draft is looming and GMs will be very antsy on not losing goalies for nothing.

If it was as imminent as it sounds there would be a lot more people reporting on it. Just sounds like speculation or referring to mckenzies tweet

I think this rumour is juicy. Juicy enough to warrant a threat. Always nice to have juice in the mornings.
If Bishop is traded, what is the chance that Stamkos stays in Tampa?

If this is happening...I'm guessing 2017 1st round pick going to Tampa.

6 million contract.

Or this is Treliving's way to get a better price on other goalies - you want #6 overall for Fleury? Oh well, we will just move on to other options. Talk to someone else about taking a starting goalie off your hands - if there is anyone else to talk to...

Bishop is better than Fleury, but I'm still not really game to spend big assets on a goalie at this point. That includes the type of $$/term Bishop will be looking for on a contract.
