Commercials sucked last night. They were really brutal....

Not much new to add that people haven't already gone over here. One thing I did catch was at the beginning of the bookclub they were arguing about the book and that older guy said no wonder "Ben" isn't here, he wouldn't read this trash. (Or something along those lines) Now we know who Ben is and I am wondering if that has some significance. Didn't they say the book was full of religious stuff with symbols and numbers? That is very similar to the symbols on the different stations and the numbers needed to input into the computer.....I could be way off just thinking there could be similarities.

That zoo/aquarium must be where the polar bear and shark came from.

I'll add more if I think of it.

The first scene was really cool but after that it wasn't a great episode.

They gave him some sort of hallucinogen that made him rant in his sleep. Remember when he started talking to the intercom that didn't work. Also Juliette said they drugged him.

I think they were just BSing on how much they know about him.

Pretty good BS if they guessed he graduated from med school a year early

Could it have been a drug that allowed them to interrogate him without him remembering?

If they have access to the outside world, they obviously aren't stranded, and want to be there, and they want the survivors on the island as well.

Well we know they know how to escape, as they have a boat and know the correct bearing to drive towards - as "Ben" told Micheal and his son.

One of many things that doesn't quite make sense. If they can escape, why don't they? Why are they still there? There has to be some sort of sinister (probably corporate) explanation.

After all, you can't just maintain a suburban community in the middle of a jungle with electricity and plumbing using old supplies. They must be getting stuff in somehow. I guess the other possibility is that the "Others" aren't trapped at all, but are choosing to be on the island for some sort of nefarious purpose.

I'm still wondering about Henry Gale/Ben saying "we're the good guys" at the end of last season. Does he really believe this? If so, what does he believe they're doing?

One theme that has occurred throughout is the "long con"-- Sawyer's storyline is one example, but also the fact that the Others are revealed to have been "posing" as savage island inhabitants. One wonders how much of what's going on now is simply another layer in that con. Are they really as they appeared in the kaffeeklatsch/book club? Or is that just another layer that will peel away to reveal something else?

I don't know that they are sinister. Perhaps just a group that has chosen to live under their own rules, and don't want outsiders.

What is going to happen over the next 2 weeks that Ben mentioned to Kate? Why was Kate allowed to shower before going to the zoo, yet Sawyer woke up in the cage?

Maybe an experiment on Stolkholm Syndrome. Give Kate a shower, nice meal, pretty dress, then throw her in a cage. Make Sawyer have to figure out how to get food; then it's bear food and not human food. See who last longer.

Or, maybe they need to swing Kate over to their side. If Sawyer is acting like a trapped animal and Sawyer thinks the Others really aren't so bad, will that drive a wedge between them?

The one 'Other' jumped on the fact Kate asked about Sawyer first.

It was interesting that the other guy who was in a cage told Sawyer what direction to run when they escaped, and he ran straight into Juliet. Contrived?

Did Ben get to know them well enough (during his captivity) to decide how he wanted to handle each of them?

Was Sawyer even around when they captured Ben... I think he came back after they captured him. Then he was recovering from the gun shot. Ben/Henry had no interaction with him to know how to handle Sawyer

Well Michael released Ben, so I think the timing would be OK, but I can't recall if they kept Sawyer away from Ben (I really should re-watch the last few episodes of S2).

Is there any actor better on this show then Michael Emerson (He plays Ben)?

Cause I really think not. He plays the evil genius in such a way that you don't even want to hate him even though you know he's bad. No wonder the producers made him a regular after originally asking him to do 3 episodes.

Nope, the guy plays it really well. Like a little Kevin Spacy. His voice etc remind me of Spacy in Se7ev and Usual Suspect, the guy is gooood.

Here's a thought: Any significance to the name Juliette? Shakespearean plot line where she falls in love with a member of the opposing clan (Jack)?

Holy sweet merciful mother mary, and father tom, that was possibly the ending was possibly one of the funniest moments in TV history, I can't stop laughing!!!

(early airing of TV shows, a positive benefit for being on the East Coast)
