News UpdateBob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
AAV for Andersen's five-year deal in TOR should be in the low to mid $5M range, that is $5.5M or a little less than that.

That seems like a high AAV to me.

MAF for 5.75 x 3 years seems like a better deal.
Then Gilles can hopefully come in.

Somewhere in the low to mid $5m range per Bob McKenzie. He guesses $5.5m or slightly less.

Bernier is in a tough spot. His salary is too high for us (even 50% retained) because we would still need another goalie like Reimer (wouldn't that be sad?) because Bernier/Ortio would be a joke.
Bernier's best bet is going to be biding his time, playing well in a backup role and hoping someone else's starter gets injured or falters Bernier-style. Until then, I really don't see why a team would trade anything for him.

I think I'd still prefer MAF @ 5.75 for 3 years than Andersen @ $5.5M for 5 years. If Andersen does NOT pan out, then its a boat anchor in 3-4 seasons.

He has proven to be a competent starter capable of playing 50 games in a season, but I don't see much in his body of work to suggest that he is a potential high end NHL starting goalie.

Those stats he is spamming are as advanced as 1st grade math. They are BS stats they make too many assumptions to take seriously. I think Andersen is as much apart of the teams success as the team was his. Ramo on the other hand shouldn't even be a 1B goalie, he was as much of the problem as anyone else.

Zero. I didn't think I could want a goalie less than Reimer but I was wrong.

I potentially would do Wideman for Bernier.
Save a couple million against the cap, open up some ice time on the backend (and a spot to sign Nakladal), and provides a little more flexibility in goal.

Why would Wideman waive?

Good deal for the Leafs. 30th pick is pretty much the same as an early 2nd rounder.
People stating its a high price because of "a first rounder" are just exaggerating to make it look better for their case.

Get MAF, give JR $2m AAV for 3 years. Let JG dominate the AHL.

I am going to come out and say it even though I got no evidence. What appears to be going on in Toronto stinks of some serious tampering or behind the scenes deals here. Too many things just seem to be aligning up quite nicely for them.
If Stamkos decides to go to Toronto I am going to be even more convinced. Like I said I got zero evidence but too many things here are pointing to something that's starting to stink.

Can you be more specific? This looks like a pretty typical deal for an emerging starting goalie judging from history. I don't get why you would think there is any tampering involved.

Anderson is not a #1 goalie, he is a good tandem guy to share a load but as soon as he has to take the bull by the horns the bull runs him over.
