Forgot about the bylaw. I beleive that kids on bikes need helmets.

Now back to the wind. I wish I had turned on my strava app today for the ride home as I had favourable winds at my back as I rode from Chinook to new Brighton.

My thought is the same as an nhl coach who gripes about the reffing, I griped about the wind and finally got some love.

Never once in the 15+ years I've been dragging around a Chariot have I once NOT had a helmet on my kids. Even belted in, there's the potential for a head-on with another bike. And 99% of my riding with a bike trailer is on the pathway system.

My Chariot is the same, it is a 3 point harness with full aluminum tubing around it. Worst they can do is smash each other in the face I guess.
Per Calgary.ca:

Children in trailers and on trail-a-bikes are required by law to wear an approved bicycle helmet.

Last week I took a look at my bike fund (my employee stock purchase plan) and much to my surprise it had reached the level I needed, so last night I posted my RM Altitude on pinkbike and kijiji and sold it for pretty much the price I wanted, so tomorrow (Sunday) I am picking up my new Thunderbolt (see picture above) - I am both excited and sick at the same time.

Since I bought the bike from my usual LBS, I got what I consider to be a very good price.

Nice - took one of those out for a test ride before I got my Norco. Super fun bike.

What did you have your altitude priced at? I was looking at your for sale thread but apparently much too late.

Sold the altitude for $1300. I kept the 35 mm sixc Carbon handlebar and atlas stem, atlas pedals, chromatic moon seat with ti rails and I had two recent installed new rear derailleur pulleys.

After I sold it, I got a few other emails - makes me wonder if it could have got $1700 for it. Was stunned I sold it in such a short period,of time.

This Thunderbolt will likely be the last mtn bike I buy as it is the dream bike.

Ha likely. I'm looking for a friend. Would have jumped all over that at $1300.

Enjoy the Thunderbolt!

Congrats!! I'm loving my Thunderbolt. Are you getting the BCE? If not, I highly recommend upgrading whatever you get to a pike or a 34. It's a full out hooligan bike; the geo makes you want to get rowdy. A 32, even at 120/130 is far too flimsy for this frame.

Edit: Also, if you are an out-of-saddle climber, I'd suggest upgrading the shock at the shop. The kashima CTD doesn't stop the bob. It's driving me nuts and, the minute I'm done paying for divorce lawyers, I'm going CCDB.

Yes, I am getting the bc edition. If I were to upgrade anything out of the box I'd be asking you about divorce lawyers, as the only comparably priced item my wife has ever bought would be a living room couch.

Picked up the rig this afternoon (and so far the wife is still talking to me, I guess the real test is when we climb into the wrapper tonight).

Spent about an hour or so this afternoon setting it up, I swapped out the no name stem for my atlas stem, was going to put on my six-c handle bar, but decided to keep the next bar on it, also swapped out the derailleur pulleys(I had some blue one from my previous bike) and installed a new seat. Also applied some protective tape on the down and top tubes.

Keeping it in the basement for now until I get it added to the house insurance policy tomorrow.

Took it for a ride around the neighborhood, and climbed up the local toboggan hill a couple of times. The rear hub has that buzz saw sound.

The wife and I are planning on heading out to Banff or can,ore next weekend.

Bikes have to be specifically added?

Yeah, when they are worth that much, you have to show a receipt or an appraisal to have it covered. Otherwise, I think it caps at around 2600.

Fair enough. I usually keep receipts for that stuff. Thanks for the info.

The inaugural Alberta 700 from Hinton to Coleman started yesterday morning. Here's the website to track the leaders:

Just over 24 hours in, there are a couple of guys who have already ridden 500km. Old friend Dallas Morris is the current leader.

I don't even think I can stay awake for 24 hours let alone ride 500km.

Most I have done in a day is 115, and it was exhausting.

Pretty crazy stuff. Dallas has a ridiculous pain threshold. He did the Race Across the West a few years ago, I think he rode 36 hours straight and just coasted into a ditch, fell off his bike and went to sleep for awhile. He's built for these kinds of races.
