So many of those stretch passes missed their target. When they hit, the transition was fast. When they missed the transition was dead in the water and they missed more than they hit. If those transitions are a 10 on the speed scale then I'm fine with seeing them turn it down to 8 in favour of more controlled, high percentage passes.

Wonder if there was something brewing between him and Hartley - if veterans were worried about him.

Strtech passes only worked with adequate puck support after. Teammates were too far removed, and possession would be lost quickly. This might be what he means (somewhat) by being connected.
