Hate to say it, but that's a pretty reasonable deal for a player who looks to have finally found a decent home.

I still like Andersson more, though.

Always liked him with the Flames, although was growing tired of his attitude issues, he seems to have turned it around somewhat.

Glad we essentially got Andersson for him though.

Agreed.

It's not a terrible bridge deal for a one-dimensional 2nd-liner these days, but I like how we made out. I don't think Baertschi will ever be a star player.

Is he a second liner?

Yeah, pretty easily. Last year he was on pace for 18 goals and 33 points, and he is still only 23. Lots of room to grow.

So Joe Colborne is also a second liner pretty easily?

Not a bad deal, I'm still rooting for the kid (but hope it's elsewhere he finds success)

Like mentioned, so far I prefer what Anderrson might be able to bring.

Yes, he is. Last year he put up 44 points in 73 games, a 50-point pace, essentially. He just needs to be more consistent.

I hope the Flames' standards for being a 2nd liner are higher than yours

On pace stats are meaningless if you get hurt constantly. It's just part of who you are.

Why? How is a 45-point player (even with injuries) not a 2nd-liner? For example, at times late last season Chicago's 2nd line was centred by Artem Anisimov, who scored 42 points last year, and he was flanked by Andrew Ladd (46 points) and, IIRC, Hossa (33 points).

I get that Colborne doesn't use his size as much as guys like Hossa, but he's younger than all of those guys and has room to grow.

Sure, but even with injuries, Colborne's putting up point values north of 40. He's a special player.

I still sorta like Baertschi, but I hope that he goes elsewhere before taking the step to the next level.

Exactly. Those phantom points don't really mean anything for the team. At the end of the day, a healthy guy scoring at a lesser pace has the exact same impact to the team.

Or put another way, I hope the Flames options for being a second liner are better than Vancouver's.
