I'll take nutcase over Hillers vertigo. Give him a PTO with an exit clause that allows the team to fire him if it's not working. Tell him no taking to Sam, Sean or Johnny. No goofball theories allowed.
How about not giving him an offer at all? I'm convinced there are much better and more practical solutions for the Flames via a trade or another UFA.

I really want to see Bryz back in the game. He's had the best personality in the league since I've started watching hockey. I really can't stand the same old cookie-cutter interview responses and gentlemanly behaviour in the media from the current players. It's too robotic
Maybe Sportsnet will hire him!

I see no reason why not, barring some miraculous goalie acquisition we are probably going to be throwing darts at the wall anyway.
Do you believe that the Flames will only acquire a better goaltender by way of a miracle? I dispute that notion in the light pf a fairly wide open buyer's goalie market in the summer.

I would give him a PTO as a chance to become our backup, that's about it. If nothing else it would give Ortio some competition instead of handing him the job outright. I would only do this if we secured a bona-fide #1 guy as well.

Not literally a miracle, but I don't think it will be as easy as people are making it out to be. I personally don't think any of the free agents are that enticing.
The trade market is unpredictable as well. Other teams know we are pretty desperate for a starting goalie and aren't going to be giving us a discount. And teams with 2 viable goalies that have Stanley Cup aspirations (ex. Pens with Fleury and Murray, Lightning with Bishop and Vasilevskiy) aren't going to give away a goalie out fear of losing one in the expansion draft. You go for the Cup every time even if means losing a goalie later. I think most teams with 2 viable goalies will at least wait until part way through the season before worrying about it.

Nor do I, but several of them are definitely more enticing than returning to Ramo.

Of course not, but the Flames are certainly well positioned today with the assets to spend to acquire a goalie via a trade. In any event, there is no reason to expect that the Flames will not have better options heading into next season than Bryzgalov. Moreover, there are good reasons to think that the Flames will get better goaltending next season than they did this year.

If a team trades a goalie to the Flames, then maybe that team picks him up on a PTO as a potential backup
Don't see him getting more than a camp invite until he proves himself

There is no commitment with a PTO and I don't see how having a veteran NHL starter attempting a comeback wouldn't be a good thing for competition. The worst case scenario is that he doesn't make the cut.
We don't even know who the Flames goalies will be next season. What reasons are there to assume it will be better? I just hope there is at least one NHL goalie in place before free-agency starts if they are hoping to sign anyone who is in demand (other than another goalie of course).

I can't help but hear 'Bryz-ga-lov..., Bryz-ga-lov...' to the tune of the Ricola commericals. I heard that many many years ago by one of the anchors on 'The Score' during highlights circa mid 2000's. I laughed then and I'll laugh now.
