I've played Willow several times. Greens are always in top notch shape, not the longest course but some tricky shots and more of a course you work your way around rather than overpower. I pretty much only use 3 wood off the tee there.

Probably only looking at around 15 rounds which is why a punch card type of option would be best.

That's good news. I can't hit my driver this year so I have been playing 3 wood off the tee

Not long, but challenging. More room out there than it looks like, so don't steer it around.

Too bad, I think i saw them punching the greens this morning when I drove by. If so, unfortunate timing for you because the greens were very good.

Are you kidding me?
I played bearspaw 2 weeks ago right after they punched them. Was brutal.
They shouldn't charge full rate if they punch greens.

Well, played yesterday and the greens were punched.
However, they still rolled really true and were very soft. I was actually quite happy playing.
Shot a 94 which isn't too bad considering I shot 106 on Sunday. I missed a bunch of short putts and donkey'd some short chips so it should have been better.

What do you say when people cheat at Golf??
Like when they hit one into the bushes then reload and count one? Like when they miss a short putt and quickly tap it in as it is passing the hole for one?
For clarity this was not a recreational round.

Call em' out.
I played a match yesterday and on a couple holes I did an illegal drop for sake of convenience, but would just surrender the hole at that point.

What you did was fine. I'd have zero issue with that.
I was playing as a team with this guy and don't want to be associated with that crap. First time I've played with the guy and didn't want to cause waves at the club.

Team play in a tourney I would for sure say something.
Recreation play who cares. If I couldn't cheat at recreational golf I wouldn't play.

Competitive round - call them on it.
Recreational round - let it slide.
My rounds are all with friends and family and my philosophy is if you are not having fun then don't play. If it is taking 3 shots to get out of the bush/rough/sand etc. then it's not fun so I'm okay with a footwedge to get the ball somewhere you will have a better chance at making a successful shot.

had a few experiences with this lately.
match play last week, we had a short discussion of unplayable ball options, and he conceded hole when he realized he can't drop 2 club lengths from the edge of the trees, even if he found his ball.
call them out, if you ask scores and he says 5, just say, are you sure, list each of his strokes.
company tournament yesterday, people don't even know the rules, so as long as it wasn't for a prize, and as long as everyone got their drives in, who cares.
mens night last night,(yes, I played tourney and mens night, yesterday).
we weren't in a match but the guys we were playing with, were taking mulligans and do overs, I actually don't care because it gets their handicaps down for when they are in matches. I'm all for letting people like that cheat, until they're in a match.
I play skins/snips with people on weekend mornings and there is no cheating whatsoever. matter of fact, was playing with one of the guys last night in mens night and I had a tricky shot from some branches etc., and he explained about, if I am in a tournament and I am practice swinging and so much as a leaf drops if I brush a branch, that is a penalty for improving my shot.
so, I guess different situations, are different, but if you are playing serious like you have to play by the rules.
actually, the worst people are the ones that take mulligans, and then brag about their scores after the game, hate them people.

I was in a match a couple weeks ago. It was a shotgun start, but on hole 18 (our fourth hole of the day), I tapped in for bogey. He said I got a double, because he said I double hit the ball on my chip. I didn't feel a double hit, and I didn't hear one. When he said I did it I was more surprised than anything. I told him that I wasn't calling him a liar, but I really didn't think it happened. As we were waiting to tee off on the 1st hole we went in to the golf shop and asked the head pro. He said that because my opponent heard a double tap, I likely did it, and thus I lost the hole. I didn't agree with it, but there was a clear ruling from a pro, so I went with it. It sucked, and I was already leaking oil at the time.
Has anyone else been in a situation like this? I don't think the guy was cheating, nor do I think he was trying to rattle me. I think he really thought that I double hit my chip, but I really didn't think I did. It's tough that because he said he heard it, that I have to adjust my scorecard.

If it's a tourny i'd call him out and not sign his scorecard.

He may be right, but it's scummy that he didn't mention the double hit until after he lost (or halved?) the hole.

Wow, that situation sucks. In my experiences I would usually side with the player (you) and not the marker (opponent). But you guys did do the right thing by asking the pro, and in that situation he would be considered the committee and need to make the decision. My initial reaction was that it should have been ruled in your favor and it upset me a bit so I did some digging and really found nothing that helps your case but I still think the pro should have made a different decision.
34-3/9 -Resolutions of Questions of Fact-
" When the Committee is unable to determine the facts to its
satisfaction, it must resolve the matter in the fairest way (Decision 34-3/5).
Testimony of the players involved is important and must be given due
consideration. In some situations where the facts are not decisive, the doubt
should be resolved in favour of the player (Decisions 15-1/2 and 19-1/4.1); in others, the doubt should be resolved against the player (Decision 13-4/35.5
and 21/3). There is no hard-and-fast rule for evaluating the testimony of the
players or for assigning the weight to be given to such testimony and each
situation must be treated on its own merits. The proper action depends
on the circumstances in each case and must be left to the judgment of the
referee, or the Committee as a whole."
