Yea, the little town seemed in the middle of NOWHERE!!!
There's some definate tension between Ben and Juliette....not sure whay that is, but it was there from the opening sequence.
A TOWN?! These guys have settled into a little town with plumbling, electricity, food, EVERYTHING! Insane...and why did it seem like they has a whole plan in place for the random event of a plane crash.
Why did they want lists of people to kidnap when they have their little city?
Why was Juliette congragulated for doing a good job at the end of the show? For breaking Jack down?
Ben aka Henry Gale is DEFINATELY the leader...but I think that's where the tension lies between Juliette and Ben.
I would like to know if that other prisoner who escaped was planted that by the Others...for what reason? Not sure.

The book Juliette had was by Stephen King....is this significant or just a nod to King, who is a big fan of the show himself?

When Jack was hitting the communicate button on that intercom, you could hear Jacks father say "Let it go Jack" through the static.

My guess is the town was set up by the Darma people to watch what happens to the experiment subjects. But I don't think they knew the plane was going to crash, because they all acted like it was an earthquake, and then when it was over they went outside to see what hapened, and saw the plane going overhead.

Was it my imagination or did Ben call Julliette Judith in the end when he congratulated her.
Not a whole lot of answers tonight, we're in the same fricken maze as the characters in this show.

Maybe Juliet's rant about free will at the beginning is foreshadownig what the tension is? She doesn't agree with how Ben is dealing with the survivors.

Town is quite far, yet would be visable from many of the peaks if it is still there.

I don't know, the town looks pretty far away from the crash sites.

They all seemed to know what to do ie as though they had prior experience with the earthquake. The ground did not shake because of the plane but because the numbers were not entered in the Swan.
Can't wait until next week when we find out what happened to the hatch.

Right. Using complex physics, I have determined that the debris on the right is the tail section making this othersville pretty damn far from the camp. At least we got a scale as to how big the island is.

I don't think those scales work out though. Remember, Ben sent Ethan and that other guy to infiltrate the two camps, and said it would only take 2?? hours to run there.

He told the other guy it would take him an hour to run there...didn't say anything about Ethan's ETA.....

Jack's Dad's body was on the plane was it not? Would the autopsy report not be with Jack/the body?
Great episode though. While watching it tonight with the big fade shot of the city I chuckled to myself "Damn you Lost".

Good pic.
Which site is which though?
I'd have to think the tailies are in the right there and the rest is off to the left. The tailes to the right seem "2 hours away".

Ok, but how would they have all the detailed information on Jack's past - his marriage breakup, the University he went to, etc. That wouldn't have been on the plane.

Is it me or were there some ridiculous amount of commercials on during that episode? I swear one commercial was 5mins long and had 5mins of lost in between 2 commercials.

There seemed to be. Having watched everything up till now on DVD it killed the flow. I don't notice them with most TV, but last night was bad.

Yep I have watched them all on DVD or at least DVD quality bittorrents. And you are right it really is a different experience. I think we might be well served by downloading the shows off the net and watching them that way.

Is it possible that they knew so much about Jack by monitoring the conversations he may have had with somebody (Locke, Kate etc) in the hatch. Perhaps they don't actually know his ex-wife is very happy back home. I have a feeling that episode 2 will be a slow climb to a frenzy in week 6, followed by a hiatus until 2007.
