He's gonna elaborate on this one as much as he did on why he thinks Treliving is a slimy rat. He's got nothing.

Now we move to Vancouver who most of us believe is "no good". Well Gulutzan has been a big part of this "no good" team.
Screw this hiring if the news is true.
For those that think Treliving can do no wrong. Well this is far from being the best HC. Nope this is "no good".
LOL. Your post comes across because Gulutzan was part of the Canucks that he is useless. I get not liking the canucks, but they have some solid pieces that i would be quite happy for the flames to acquire.

Im of the same opinion, He wasnt my first choice, I seriously want Rierden, but I have faith in BT's reasons for picking one over the other. I dont put a ton of stock into his Dallas record for many reasons. i didnt sit in on either interview , so I'll wait to see what he has in store before I pass judgement.
He did after all get a ton of credit for Turning Sven into a productive player in Van, that says something .

Posted this in the coach rumor thread - Glen Gulutzan's last two NHL general managers were Joe Nieuwendyk and Jim Benning.

Draw your own conclusions - personally, I think that might play a role.

Shinkaruk used to be a member of the Canucks so he sucks and has no future.

Good gosh, what was Treliving thinking? Tsk.

Did he fail or succeed getting a pretty decent DAL roster into the playoffs in the 2 seasons he was there NO. In fact the hockey pundits were unanimous DAL should have made the playoffs. Enter a new HC.
Did the Canucks make the payoffs this season NO.
Where are the Canucks picking this draft again.
Does Gulutzan NHL coaching career really impress anyone if so I would love to know why.
Treliving better pray Johnny, Monahan, Gio and Brodie play out of their minds bailing his butt out. And then there is the Goalie. He will be taking a hail Mary shot on Bishop or, or...

It's not that he's bad because of the Canucks so much as it seems unlikely that he learned much useful while working under Tortorella and Desjardins (who were both out-coached by the guy we just fired). Reirden having learned from Trotz, for example, would inspire more confidence.

Ignore Stay Golden on anything related to Treliving though. He's usually a reasonable poster, but there seems to be something personal there. I'm genuinely curious what it is, but I doubt we'll ever get an answer.

If true I've gotta give BT the benefit of the doubt, his decisions have been pretty solid since joining the Flames

I don't know anything about the guy but this feels like " well we sacked Hartley cause we didn't like something about his attitude" so we brought in some passable random guy that was available cause we needed someone before the draft." Not saying I dislike him but was he really the best of the available candidates? pretty mediocre crop if so. Looks like a guy that will get is over the hump of picking top 6 and that's about it

Everything I have seen or read points to Rierdan as being more of what BT has stated he wants for the team. I have no idea if I'm right, I'm usually not, but I dont think its Gulutzan.

I'm more then willing to give BT the benefit of the doubt if Gulutzan is his man. Hockey ''experts'', pundits and online posters are almost always wrong when it comes to things like who won the trade deadline or best UFA signing on July 1st. Many people seem to forget that it's not always the biggest names that come out on top. Gulutzan may not have worked out in Dallas or Vancouver. But if BT thinks he'll work out HERE, then I'm on board.

I'm pretty sure all of us can relate to having a hire being brought into your place of employment and even though he had top notch credentials, they weren't a good fit. Sometimes your company hires someone who failed at his last 2 positions and ends up being a home run at your job. Why should hockey hires be any different? How many people here are eating crow when it comes to the Rutherford hiring? Or the Deboer hiring thread. Go read those thread on CP about those hirings and some posters in that thread are looking pretty foolish right now. Like players, some people just have chemistry with certain groups.

If BT thinks Gulutzan can get the most out of this group, then I believe him. He's proven time and time again to be a man who does his homework and leaves no stone un-turned. If Gulutzan (a name probably 99.9% of us had no idea of until a couple days ago) is indeed our next head coach, then I for one am pretty excited if he's made the cut, as I know the search was thorough, well thought out and not based on who the biggest name on the market was.

This isn't Darryl Sutter hiring his old friends like Keenan or his brother. This is our GM looking for a solid diamond in the rough. It's his very first coaching hire. If he has in fact determined Gulutzan is the best guy, then I'm more then willing to be patient.

I was super meh on the Hartley hire and he was a tremendous surprise.

Hope that meh feeling produces even better results this time around.

I trust in Treliving's choice. He's a smart and hard working GM. I'm sure he has done extensive amounts of research in getting the right guy. If Gulutzan is his choice, I am on board.
