Gunmakers’ shares jumped following the massacre at an Orlando, Florida, nightclub that left at least 50 people dead.

Sturm Ruger & Co. climbed 8.7 percent to $62.43 at 9:34 a.m. Monday in New York after gaining 8.9 percent, its most intraday since late February. Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. surged 10 percent $23.57 following a 12 percent advance, its biggest intraday increase since Jan. 5.

Shares of gun manufacturers typically increase after a mass shooting as investors speculate that tougher gun-control laws may be enacted, spurring sales before any new measures take effect. The National Instant Criminal Background Check System, which is used to vet consumer gun purchases and is a gauge of firearm demand, jumped more than 25 percent for the three months through January, Smith & Wesson said in March. That period included a terrorist shooting in San Bernardino, California, and coordinated attacks in Paris

Senseless mass murder on completely innocent victims that were just simply living life.
I wish the USA would snap to common logic and ban 100% the sale of Automic weapons to the public. The easy access of Automatic weapons ultimately bring to life the twisted plots that consume these evil individuals.
Such hatred to go to the extent of murdering people that are a different color, gender, sexual orientation.

Automatic weapons are banned but the manufacturer's got around this problem by having high capacity clips and assault style weapons that shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger.

Aside from looks, an AR-15 is no different than a hunting rifle with a wooden stock. And standard capacity mags are not "high capacity", people only think of them that way due to pointless restictions on mag capacity in Canada and some US states.

Omar Mateen was more than just a homicidal, jihadist-inspired homophobe when he shot his way through an Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning, according to a couple of the establishment regulars.

He was also a repeat visitor.

A drag-dancing married couple described seeing Mateen as many as a dozen times at the gay-friendly nightclub where he'd later embark on the single worst gun massacre in modern American history.

Ty Smith and Chris Callen recalled the eventual killer being escorted drunk from the Pulse bar on multiple occasions, including one incident where he pointed a knife at a friend.

Both professed shock at seeing his face on TV: "It's the same guy," said Callen, who performs under the name Kristina McLaughlin. "He's been going to this bar for at least three years."

They expressed incredulity at the story being told by Mateen's father in the wake of the shooting, that the gunman had once been scandalized during a visit to Miami by the sight of men kissing each other.

They say Mateen saw plenty of men kiss — and far closer to home than Miami.

"That's bullcrap, right there. No offence. That's straight-up crap. He's been around us," Smith said Monday in an interview at the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida.

"Some of those people did a little more than (kiss) outside the bar.... He was partying with the people who supposedly drove him to do this?"

None. He was inside for a long time and swapping mags takes a second or two.

Even without that, he was intent on committing a crime. With the way magazines are limited, a criminal can have them back to standard capacity in minutes. Someone planning on killing a bunch of people would simply do this.

I totally agree magazines should be redesigned so they can't be modified back to their original capacties.

And from all reports this shooter did everything with off the shelf stock, nothing was modified.

And if you haven't seen the snapchat from when it started, he fired off about 10 shots in the first couple seconds before anyone even reacted. If you don't think having to change the magazine 5 times instead of 0 to get off the first 30 shots wouldn't have allowed countless more people to escape, to be blunt, you're delusional.

Probably none, as the restrictions are apparently quite easy to reverse.
