What did you have before? I'm personally waiting for Note 6, I like bigger phones and this one promises to be a heck of a phone. Plus Samsung VR is fun.

I have the Galaxy S7 and love it. Whatever you get, make sure it has wireless charging. I love just setting my phone on my bedside table and it charges. Not having to screw around with a cable to plug my phone in is one less job at the end of the day.

It's also waterproof and has expandable memory. I have a 128 gig micro SD card that I bought for crazy cheap off Amazon. Don't get sucked into Apple's ripoff world where they bend you over for more memory.

The biggest question is what do you have now, and what do you like/dislike about it?

In reality the difference between Apple and the higher end Android phones is like Coke and Pepsi. There are subtle differences but at the end of the day they are so similar.

The single biggest reason I picked my iPhone over a Samsung Galaxy was the Find My Phone and Find Friends apps. Most of my friends have iPhones, and for my family the find my iPhone works better than anything I had used for Android. Having a teenage son it is helpful to be able to know where he is without having to call or text him (bother him.)

I don't recommend an iPhone. Get an S7 or a G5.

If you are actually buying, it's all about budget. If you are talking contract, different story.
There is some great technology available at half the cost of the big boys, if actually buying and price is a consideration.

I'm not the OP, but am looking for a phone in the $2-300 range. Currently use a first generation Moto G. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

The Oneplus Three is supposed to be announced June 14. they also got rid of their invitation system to purchase. Could be worth looking into.

Never owned an apple. Don't like them, no interest so can't comment on that.

What I can comment on is HTC. First time I bought a smart phone it was an HTC. Been through 3 upgrades since. All HTC. I find the build quality to be head and shoulders above the rest. Have the HTC M8 atm, contract just expired and no interest in parting ways with it. Not until the M10 comes out anyways and even then I wouldn't bother unless the battery really started to suffer on my current phone.

6S has made me love apple again. Full day charge and fingerprint scanner make my life so much better! I am sure other phones do this stuff now but I stopped caring about the little things as all phones can do everything now so it really comes down to your ecosystem and what you need.

Apple is missing some very key features, though, from a hardware perspective. Not waterproof, no expandable memory, no wireless charging, and no back button. Plus they're more expensive. An S7 can do everything an iPhone can do, but an iPhone can't do everything an S7 can do.

Wait until September for a Lenovo Phab2 Pro, because it will be ridiculous with Google's Project Tango Tech. It might only run $700.

Maybe I'm just a sheep or too lazy to learn new things but I used an s6 active for a month and I wanted to give up and go back to my iPhone 4. See my simple complaints in the android thread.

6s is nearly waterproof it just isn't advertised.
Wireless charging would be nice but not needed since I only plug phone in at night anyways.

I have never understood why people want a back button so badly. When I was using it I never knew what I had to push of back button or home button on the android and drove me crazy.

Again I only used it for a month and have used iPhones since iPhone 4 and I also have 4 apple tvs which play so nice with my phone. I compare it as if you want your phone to just work as it should go with Apple. If you want to tweak and customize your experience and want to tinker with everything constantly go with the android. If I were to do android again I would go htc as the Samsung plastic feeling wasn't for me.

Cool tech, but i think the 6.4" screen size may put some people off. That's pretty huge. Although with the giant size, it apparently has really a huge battery and great battery life.

I currently have the s7 edge and its the first phone I've ever owned that I really love. Its an amazing piece of hardware, and the Gear VR is a ton of fun. I think the s7 is essentially the exact same other than the curved screen but its cheaper

Before this I had the HTC M9 and it wasnt anything special. Heavy, overheated doing anything slightly demanding, poor battery life. Solid build quality but other than that it did nothing as well as any of the other smart phones available

I think the S7 is the best phone in the world currently, followed by the latest iPhone

Phones are all about what you're used to and the eco system you're connected to.

I love the S7 but my Mother and Sister both have iPads and having the ability to FaceTime my daughter with them means I can never go away from the iPhone. iMessage fill the gap of being able to message my parents iPad and that is also irreplaceable. I own mostly apple products and enjoy the iPhone but I do think there is better featured phones out there like the S7 or the Nexus line.

+1 for HTC (I've had both the M8 and M9)
I made the switch from Apple and would never go back. Absolutely love the HTC.

The S7 is smaller than the S7 Edge, which is why I went with the non-edge.
