But for myself, and I might be unique in this, looking at astroturf is a big deal to me. The green grass, from a pure "baseball experience" perspective, is important to me. I think it's embarrassing to have a professional baseball team playing on fake grass. When I show up at a ball game I want to see the fresh cut grass with the cross crossing patterns.
|
Nope, you are not unique at all. Astroturf sucks. To me there is nothing wrong with Rogers Center other than that. I fully believe we'd have grass if it wasn't for this albatross of an NHL contract. That basically has put the breaks on anything over at Rogers.

Donaldson now a double away from the cycle...
Hard to criticize the reigning MVP but unfortuantely his inconsistancy at the plate has been a huge reason for the offensive struggles this year. Hopefully we can get it going, but I also said that about the game has was 4/5, 5/5 or something like that a few weeks ago.

Man this team is hopeless with a runner at third.
LOL...and Pillar makes me eat some crow with a 2 RBI triple.

Dickey has been missing his spots the last couple innings and, in my humble opinion, should not have come out for the 6th.
I think Chavez should be pitching right now but Gibbons has no confidence in his bullpen at all.
Edit: And here comes Chavez. But still, why even have Dickey out there for the 6th if he just wants to have him get the one out? Why not give Chavez the clean inning rather than giving him a 1 out runner on third situation to come into. These are the decisions that puzzle me.

I think in a 7-2 games you want to get as much out of your starter as your possible can. I get its Dickey and it can go south at any moment but 7-2 is a pretty good cushion.
They will need to ride their bullpen at some point so i'd rather not tax them if you don't have to. Innings and pitches add up over a long season.

EE continues to be brutal with RISP.
Edit: And now a lead-off walk to the number 9 hitter with a 7-2 lead. Unreal. Why nibble with a 7-2 lead?
Edit #2: Sorry for the negativity today. I guess I am a grumpy Jays fan today. We are up 7-2 I should be happy.

No worries, man. I'm still pissed off about how downright awful the Jays bats were last night and how many centre cut location pitches that they just popped straight up or fouled back to the screen.

Meh, the only part I was pissed about yesterday was EE's bases loaded K. That was just a bad at bat... even I could tell that pitch 2 & pitch 3 were going in the dirt.

At least we salvaged one game though we should have won 2.

Detroit is a very hot team, and we should have won that series. Still chugging along here.

Way late here....but yeah having Sanchez start the 9th was the move I would have made. Pitch count was good and no one was showing signs of hitting him. This time I would have kept him in. I think Gibbons managed it right.

Every time Dickey starts the whining gets going in the first or second inning no matter what. Once again he pitches a solid 2 run game. He sure gets dumped on for no good reason it seems.

Uhhh this was not a solid 2 run outting from Dickey, last night Sanchez had a solid(ok maybe spectacular) 2 run game, Dickey gave up 9 hits and a walk in just 5.1 innings, most games you give up a near 2 WHIP and you're gonna be looking at a 5+ spot on the board and a loss in the W/L column.
Sure he's had a couple good outtings, but he's only had quality starts in 5 of 13 starts this season, any flack he's getting is well deserved.
Dickey has indisputably been the weak link in the jays starting rotation this season, actually with Stromans struggles lately it might be a tie between those 2.

He has taken too much heat in his career as a Jay I do agree. However, when you see what Syndegaurd is doing right now and then watch Dickey I don't think he'll ever be able to escape criticism. Especially considering the Jays went nowhere and that trade was suppose to trading future for an Ace right now.

Yet, these type of trades happen all of the time... Teams will trade prospects for pitchers (i.e. David Price trade).
Dickey is a solid pitcher, however he is not an ace.

Dickey was an ace at the time. I still thought it was a bad move when it happened, but they Jays didn't get the guy they traded for. I think they underestimated how taxing the AL, and the AL East in particular, would be on an ageing knuckle baller.
