Offensive defenseman or defensive defenseman or best all-around? I'm assuming best all-around. Guys like Reggie don't get the credit they deserve as the shut-down guys never do. Same could be said for guys like Hamrlik. Maybe even Smid.

Best all-around, I think MacInnes is hard to argue with!

There should almost be two different metrics for defensemen!

Well of course they're different players. I'm very interested to see what the next 2-3 years look like for Brodie.

I'd argue he's the best player on the Flames right now. History could look good on him.

Chopper is a pretty easy call at #1 and Suter is an easy #2.

This is not even close. Last defenseman to put up over 100 points. Conn Smyth to boot aswell. Doubt any one on our roster comes close to that. Suter at #2.

I would argue that Dion and Bouw should both be on the list.

MacInnis #1 is no question.

Regehr at #2 is a big question.

There was this Dman named Gary Suter.

Nope, as good as Suter was at what he did. Regehr in his prime was better and more impactful at what he did (defensive dman). Stats will argue in Suters favour, but no way were the Flames anything with out Robyn in 2003-2008 and I am aware of how good Miikka and Jarome were. But it was also different eras between players which is always hard to compare. Plus Im still pissed at Suter for cross checking Kariya in the face in 98 and taking him out of the olympics.

I respectfully disagree. Suter was the entire package, he was amazing both offensively and defensively. Not even close imo.

i'm not even sure Regehr gets #1 status as the best stay-at-home defenceman in team history. I think that goes to McCrimmon.

They are both top 10 though.

A better supersize might be constructing your best all-time Flames Top 6 defense.

AMac - GSuter
MGio - TJBrodie
RReghr - PHousley
7th - Neon Dion

I'm sure Brian Leetch did it after Chopper did.
