what a nice morning outside today - along the bow river valley in the SE, there was a lot of water vapour cloud hanging over the river - it was quite pretty.

today I must have seen about 20 other cyclists on my commute to the office.

The drive side went well, but I became a little confused while doing the non-drive side (was doing 3x pattern).
I have a tension meter if you want to come out and check out your wheel. I don't lend out tools, but if you want to use the stand and check dish and tension you are welcome to.

terrific morning out there - love it when I can wear shorts and a long sleeve pop-over and feel comfortable.

turned on strava today as I left the hosue - 17.2 k in 40.47 minutes - an average speed of 25 kph - very happy with that time. Helps that I caught al the lights and no delays as I went over the c-train tracks

Shout out again to Cycle Path NW who fixed my busted chain for no charge. Awesome shop, so glad they opened a store so close to home.

Also thanks to the guy who works at Universal Ford who drove me and my bike to my car last night after watching my chain snap in the intersection. (PSA: kids don't take rides from strangers but walking a broken bike is no fun either )

^ I have spent a lot of money at the cyclepath south store, and for the most part I have liked the way I have been treated

Y'know, I've got a stand and a dishing tool, but I was certainly curious about the spoke tension. I was pricing Park spoke tension tools the other day. I may take you up on that!!!!! Thanks very much for the offer!!

Keep that tension meter close to you, millhouse. Tracking says my WTB KOM i25 have landed in north america. Shouldn't be long...

Massive tailwind on the way home today. Clipping along @38-42 km/hour all the way home (except for the 3 climbs). It felt like cheating so I overshot my house by 5 km, added 2 climbs and rode back into the wind for the final 5 km.

Can anyone recommend a hand pump?

Lot of junk out there, looking for an old style floor/hand pump. Does not have to be compact, will sit in the garage and will only be used for the bike.

I've had my red one from MEC for about 5 years, no complaints other than the nozzle was a bit tight initially. Price was under $30 I think, too.

This one:

Mine looks slightly different around the foot stand area, but It's probably mostly the same. Looking at the reviews, most complain about the nozzle being to tight. I solved that by a bit of silicone lube in it initially. After using it a bit it was fine.

^ I have one of these pumps sitting in my shed as I purchased a new fangled flash pump.

I'll sell it to you for $10 - I live in new Brighton

I have the Specialized Air Tool Pro. Best pump I've ever owned. I also have the Specialized Air Tool UHP floor pump for shocks. Goes up to 350 psi. Both are pricey, but worth the money, especially the UHP pump.

^ horribly jealous, have fun!!!!

I assume you're riding the coast and not I5? If so, do yourself a favor and order a bowl of clam chowder from Luna Sea fish house in Yachats. I did the oregon coast last summer in a rental convertable, looking for the best bowl of chowder. This hole in the wall won.

^ habernac - how much of the highway do you ride? is it open to traffic yet? would be an epic ride; however, a whole lotta up.

ugh, got to work this morning and my pedal was a little loose, tried to tighten it up and broke the nut off the end of the spindle - trying to decide if I will ride home one a bike that only has one platform pedal or swing by the LBS and get it fixed on the way home. I have two sets of clipless pedals at home - so financially the smart play is to limp home.

also forgot to pack my watch and wedding band this morning.....

Road is closed to traffic still so we're doing the whole thing. Whole lotta up also means a whole lotta down going the other direction. I'm not in great shape, but the people I'm riding with aren't world beaters, either, so I should be fine.

what kid of mileage is that? as I recall the uphill were constant, but I don't recall it being overly steep.

quickly googled the ride and found a link to these picutres of the now being cleared on the road - thought they were kind of cool https://www.flickr.com/photos/glacie...57664781759964
