Would like to see a freeze on outward development for three years and avoid having to pay more for infrastructure 30 km from where I live.

I think the only way we see tax decreases or freezes is if the city gets smart about outward expansion and spending; or at least restructures how people pay for the services they use. That's easier said than done though.

I just logged onto the assessment search, but it doesn't show my tax amount for 2016. Is there somewhere online I can look that up?

You also can't force people to pay premiums on small multi family housing.

People will just move to parasite communities and we will still need to pay for the infrastructure but won't get their tax dollars anymore.

Was it last year or the year before that we all got that one time relief on our property tax bill? I can't recall, but I remember it being a big deal.

What's Double Meat? Is that the same as getting spit roasted?

Whatever floats your boat I guess?

It's a joke about being able to afford double meat at Subway.

Doesn't float my boat, thought that's what floated his/hers. Who am I to judge right?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

You are thinking of 1996, if I remember correctly.

Ah so Nanshi is Middle-Upper-Middle-Class by CP standards. It's nice to have a mayor who shares the same difficulties with money the rest of us do.

Hey I'm no Nenshi fanboy but a 4% annual raise for the mayor's salary doesn't seem all that unreasonable tbh.

It's interesting that some posters complaining about the property tax increase also want the city to foot the bill for CalgaryNEXT....

The surplus tax revenue was used to reduce property taxes in 2014.

Assessment dropped $15,500 and my taxes skyrocketed $38.31.

I get a fair amount of work every year from people wanting an actual appraiser to come and give them a more accurate property value than what the city spits out.

None of these people have a clue how property taxes and/or assessments work.
