I don't see a way the Warriors shell out for Durant if they win again. It's just unneeded.

I have a feeling that Cleveland is going to get revenge this time around.

8 quarters of basketball in games 6&7 - OKC out scored Golden State in 6 of them - and lost both games.

I remember a sequence back in the day where they had a camera running in the Boston Garden. Larry Bird was out there by himself, the basket and the key was pretty much the only thing illuminated in the entire building. For 45 minutes, Bird shot baskets from all over the the floor. He never missed. Not once. He was crazy accurate.
Reporter: "Why do these questions keep being raised about Steph's toughness?"
Steve Kerr: "Because he looks like he's 12."
Love this guy. My 10 year old has taken a recent liking to basketball and it's because he saw Curry hitting all of these crazy 3's.

Of course it's unneeded. I also don't think they necessarily have to shell out a max deal for him. I think no matter what now he's going to take a short deal, I didn't actually realize how much more money he can make waiting to go into FA next year. He can make $65 million more in a max deal as a 2017 FA than as a 2016 FA (and $80 million more if he resigns with the Thunder...). So whether its Thunder, the Warriors or the Spurs, I think him signing a short deal where he can opt out next year is what he'll do. Also might be what DeRozan does too.

Also RE: Three pointers. Curry and Thompson themselves made 30 of them in the last two games of this series. The entire 1986 NBA Finals had 17 total made threes in six games. In another 20 years I would think teams will be taking more threes per game than twos, and maybe there's a four point shot as well.

Going to be a great finals this year. Last year all the talk was about the injuries and this year there will no such discussion. No inexperience from either team, no reason that either team shouldn't win.
This year both teams are better versions of last years teams. Should be some wonderful basketball to watch. Expect a lot of threes to be shot, a lot.

I know it makes me sound like a crotchety old man, but I don't really like the 3 game.

Agreed.
In a similar vein to how baseball is always balancing between pitching and hitting basketball needs to find a balance between inside and outisde because right now it's tilted way too far towards the outside game. Too much of either is a bad thing.

^But the future is big men like Anthony Davis and Karl-Anthony Towns who can go out to the three point line and shoot it well. I don't like games where we see teams jacking up 30 or more threes a game, but I do think the constant threat of three point shooting opens up the game as a whole because of how much spacing it creates. The pick and roll now has gone from an elbow thing to generally starting outside the three point line. Interior now is so much more open than it used to be.

Klay and Curry combine for 14 points midway through the 4th - and you are still up by 20.
Can't be a good sign for the Cavs.

Why are the Cavs only using 7 guys against a tired Warriors team?

Cavs not hitting the 3 like they did early on in the playoffs, and they have little shot if thats not going to happen.

I don't hate Lebron by any stretch of the imagination, but man would I ever like him more if he didn't do that childish "WTF" scrunchy face every single time a call goes against him. Like, every time. And it's such an annoying face.

It's pretty ridiculous how the Warriors are actually able to play defense against LeBron and he gets charging fouls whereas the Raptors weren't allowed to be within two feet of him and he could travel, charge, illegal screen all he wanted. Wouldn't have made a difference but would have been nice to play by the same rules.
The NBA officiating is such a joke. It's closer to the WWE than it is a legitimate sport. I really can't get into it as much as I do other sports as a result.

The better question is how they pay him. They've got a bunch of expirings, but even so they're not very much under the cap. They'd have to get rid of Igoudala and Bogut without taking very much salary back, and even then they'd basically have Curry, Durant, Green, Thompson, (which is an insane core) and Livingston on the roster and would need to use small exceptions and minimums to fill out the roster. It's certainly possible if they can find the right trade partner, but I don't expect many teams are going to jump to help them out.
Regarding the 3-point prevelance: I still don't believe that 3-point dominant basketball is a viable playoff strategy for any team that does not have a transcendant, Curry-type player. It's more than likely that at some point during one of the four rounds, your shooting goes cold and if you don't have another major skillset to hang your hat on, your done.
I do also think that once perimeter defense is a skill that bigs are actually taught before they get to the NBA, it will even out a bit. Right now we're seeing an imbalance where the number of bigs who can shoot 3s in the NBA is far greater than the number that can defend the perimeter. Every team in the league has at least one and sometimes two or three stretch bigs. Not every team has a competent big who can defend the perimeter. So already, perimeter defense is something talked about for bigs in the upcoming draft more than any previous year, I think. Defensive trends are always slow to catch up with offensive trends, but they always do, eventually.

Tim Duncan's is worse.
He's in absolute disbelief when he doesn't get the foul call.
