External USB hard-drive? Then transferring the data to disk at your office?
Either that or using 6 - 8 DVD-ROM's..
I am not a guru when it comes to backup technologies. But that would be my humble suggestion.

Allright guys I need some help.
My computer says it has been infected with SpyWorm.Win32
On my computer it says:
Remote computer 195.126.18.11 has gained access of your computer. What is the best way to clean this out asap? Should I just purchase System Doctor or Virus Blast has the help screen suggests? Help!
|
ignore the help screen
first scan for spyware (download and run windows defender), next scan for viruses (free ones to try are AVG or antivir, both quite good, better than norton/mcafee)
do those before doing anything else, that might fix it for you

Mac Help...
So my trusty windows based computer has a virus and is at the computer geek's place for the night. In it's place I pulled out the mac. This crazy machine won't go into hotmail, gmail and a few other sites. In fact, to get here I had to google calpuck and enter thru a link. Weird.
Anyhow, do any of you mac users have an inkling as to why this thing won't go to certain sites?
Help would be greatly appreciated... I have a hostel full of people that want to check their email....
Grazie

What kind of Mac is it? Honestly, that sounds more like a browser problem than a computer problem to my admittedly untrained ear...

In case anyone else ever has problems with the power plug on their laptop (see my question way above), DO NOT under any circumstances take it to Laptop Depot. At least at their NE location, the level of service simply wasn't worth it. I had more problems with the laptop after they "fixed" it (including my keyboard not working and my wireless internal network card no longer fitting in its slot). Not to mention the fact that for $130 they beat you over the head with the fact that once you leave the store there is no guarantees their repair will work. Buyer beware big time...

Use Safari instead of IE. They stopped updating IE for Mac I think...

I have now downloaded firefox, but I really don't know where the file went. Safari site is trying to sell me Tiger, and I'm pretty much frustrated.
I have no problem navigating italian computers through microsoft or firefox functions, but this mac has me friggin stumped. TTYTT, I would love to punch the screen. Probably wouldn't be a good idea tho.
Maybe I should go for a beer. Maybe, if I'm gone long enough, one of the hostelites will magically fix this crazy machine. Yes. The answer is beer.

Sounds like a really old mac if it still has internet explorer. I'd recommend downloading safari or firefox. You might be able to get safari by just selecting software update in the menu.
That old of a browser probably does not have support for a lot of new web technologies which is why it wouldn't work for a lot of the email type sites. A windows based computer with a browser older than 6.0 might have a lot of the same issues.
Course it could be something worse than that but I have no idea what it might be and I switched to macs after IE was trashed.

Has anyone else experienced frequent crashes with Safari on mac? I had to go back to firefox because everytime i was browsing, the thing just quits. I have sent about 15 error reports to apple, and finally gave up on it.

Not as much as the stable operating system. I also hate the user-friendliness. Stupid user-friendliness!

This might be totally off base, but the problem might be related to your DNS servers more than your browser. There's usually two DNS servers set, if you have two, try reversing the order that they're listed in. If you don't have two, try finding a secondary DNS from your ISP.
Even on newer Macs you can still end up with IE installed because MS Office will install it by default, even though they haven't bothered to support it in years.

I hear that, I prefer the "need a manual and 8 hours to set before use" kinda computer. Stupid Macs.

Hi everybody, sorry for the long winded set up but this is driving me nuts...
My sister is running windows XP on her computer and it will load up through the black screens and just before it will pop up with the windows scroll bar and such, it asks if I would like to go through:
1) Safe mode
2) Safe mode w/ networking
3) Safe mode w/ command line
4) Start windows since last working copy (something like that)
5) Start windows normally
regardless of any of the options chosen, the computer will reboot and start the process again in an infinite loop.
I have tried unplugging and taking out various pieces of hardware to try to pinpoint the problem. Of note is that when I try going through one of the safe mode avenues, it will list a whole bunch of items and will always stop on something to do with (drivers system) agp440.* I thought that possibly the video card had died but I don't think that is the problem. Is there a way to force the computer into safemode so I can try reinstalling the video card driver? Or possibly any other ideas??
Thanks in advance for any help!
