Okay well I guess this is where the disconnect is happening here.

For the record, I think Wynne is a terrible politician with disastrous policies. She could be a liar and/or corrupt. I don't follow Ontario provincial politics as closely as some others here but she seems just awful and shouldn't be in power.

My own MLA here in latte-sipping country is a female NDPer. I didn't vote for her and I won't next time. I think Notley and the NDP party are both terrible for Alberta.

But... it's not exactly denying the moon landing to suggest that maybe the unorthodox and embarrassing way this Wildrose guy attacked her in public might have something to do with the fact that she's a woman.

Going by the sentiments in this thread, that idea is absolutely impossible. There is no way at all that what he did was motivated by anything other than her policies. Not a chance.

And that's what I disagree with.

I believe the answer is yes. Some people, apparently, say no. Fine. I think they are wrong.

Do I think a conservative from the Wildrose Party would be hostile to an openly gay woman for reasons other than (but also including) her politics? Yes. They did, after all, lose the election at least partially due to their backwards views.

Would he have treated the situation differently if the Premier of Ontario sitting there was a man? I think that's a good bet. So, yes.

Did one of his supporters say something sexist and homophobic about that woman shortly after this incident and did the Wildrose MLA in question agree with him? That happened, so that's not a yes or no thing.



That's definitely absurd, and a really weird way to look at it.

I'm pretty confident in saying that every female politician in the world, of every stripe, feels that they are not treated the same as men. That some men don't take them seriously. That they don't respect them. That some men are in fact sexist #######s. Margaret Thatcher, bless her heart, would be included if she were still with us.

Not all men™, of course, so let's not get offended everyone. But some of them. Including this guy, for the reasons stated above.

So...just to sum this up.

If a male Conservative denounces anything about a woman politician it is based entirely on her gender and has nothing to do with her politics.......unless its a guy who you dont think meant it as such......is this correct?

Has Fildebrant have ANY history of bigotry towards gays and/or women?

If not then what we are to believe is that when he attacked her politics in the legislature yesterday, it had nothing to do with her record as premier in Ontario but everything to do with her being a gay woman?

What is he allowed to say to her that isn't considered sexist/homophobic in regards to her political achievements then?

So somebody on twitter referred to her as a "mr" and he said he was proud to have constituents like that person....and now he is homophobic? Did he even see the Mr part or just glance and assume it said Mrs? Since you claim to know exactly what he was thinking and doing on purpose yesterday, maybe you could answer that one as well?

Yeah....this bordering on absurd allright.

Your black and white extreme is no less stupid than Wynne's use of the 'woman card' here.

The numerous women that Gamergate, as one example, has harassed simply for being women have every right to point out that the attacks they have received are due to gender.

I don't know whereabouts this thread is and/or is going, but as I think some would guess, its likely a cumulation of things with Filderbrandt.

It is said this is not his first or his second or his third screwup. It is said MLAs were told to stay off social media and Fildebrandt didn't.

It is said Wildrose MLAs were livid with Fildebrandt. They'd had enough of him. He needed to be taught a lesson. He needed to grow up.

No Wildrose MLA contradicts this account, either because it is true or they're gutless to set the record straight.

It is also said no MLA spoke up for Fildebrandt on Friday night. Not a one.

By the way, I'm still waiting on an explanation as to why it is okay for the WR to slam other provinces in the Legislature, but it is not okay for Christy Clark to slam Alberta. Until one of you babies can give me one, I'm not even going to waste my time. I can't have the confidence that it won't all be a hopeless effort that is stalled by your inabilities to not get hung up on a completely irrelevant point.
