Unsigned 2014 draft picks - June 1 deadline looming
As the wings picked up Sadowy this week and the deadline is days away, are there any other unsigned 2014 draftees that may be on the move? Are there any that the Flames might be interested in? Given that the team wants to get bigger and harder to play against, maybe the opportunity exists to pick up a prospect who fits that bill, using a late draft pick perhaps.
Looking at my well worn 2014 thn draft preview, maybe a player like Aaron Irving fits the bill. Just finished with the oil kings and appears to be a decent d prospect with an edge. Or Aaron haydon, who has decent size and plays tough.
Only crossed referenced the top 100 in the preview but are there any other players that remain unsigned that may be of interest or are they destined to re enter the draft?

I mentioned it in the trade rumor thread, but Reid Duke has been mentioned by Mike Russo as someone the Wild have been getting calls on.
He is from Calgary. C/RW that shoots R. 6 '0'' around 190 lbs.
He was once very highly thought of in the WHL but his stock dropped significantly and a lot of people blame the extremely bad Lethbridge Hurricanes. Lots of speed, has offensive upside. Likely ceiling is marginal top 6 player. More likely a bottom 6 player if he makes it
Some scouting reports from a Wild website:

There are a lot of "sexy" names on defence from the 2014 draft that received a lot of attention that are in danger of going back to the 2016 draft
Alex Peters
Aaron Haydon
Jacob Middleton
Aaron Irving
Alexis Vanier
The above names were all highly thought of at one point for the 2014 draft. However there is really a logjam at defense in Stockton next year, they may just take their chances with the 2016 draft and then UFA.

Oh and Jaden Lindo
6'2'' 208lbs RW shoots R
http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=189413
Probably never going to put up big offensive numbers in the NHL, but he has size and battles.
http://www.owensoundsuntimes.com/201...l-in-nhl-draft
Quote:
Penguins director of amateur scouting Randy Sexton said his club was looking to draft big mobile players and that Lindo has "got good size. Those are guys that are going to be able to play in the NHL the way it is currently being played."
Sexton added: ""Lindo is big, good along the wall, heavy on pucks, strong, good on the forecheck. He’s very good along the wall, very good on pucks, (and has a) great low game. He’ll chip in with some offense, very reliable defensively."
Lindo had nine goals and nine assists in 40 games last season, battling through several injuries which hampered his production.
"If Jaden was healthy and performing at his capable level all season, he likely would have been a second or third round pick.”, Attack General Manager Dale DeGray said.

His Draft+1 and Draft+2 years are disappointing offensively. Worth a NHL contract? probably not. Get him to an AHL deal if you can (assuming he doesn't get picked in the 2016 draft)

I remember the talk of vanier and peters. Peters has had injuries which have set back development and vanier has foot speed issues. Guess there are legitimate reasons why these players may not be signed

I'm a huge Connor Bleackley fan. Has Hathaway like tenacity and physicality but more skill.

I really like Middleton. Big, tough, and punishing. Decent speed. Wouldn't be adverse to picking him up.

Haydon was one of those guys that I liked back in 2014, but he's kind of stalled in his development. Not really sure any of those guys are worth picking up other than on a dev camp invite

Problem with Bleackley is that you have to give up a pick greater than 53rd OA or a package that Arizona considers greater value than the 53rd OA pick to sign him before June 1st.

Has there been anything on why he doesn't want to sign in PHX? As opportunities go you would think it's a good fit.

It is the other way around. Phoenix thinks they are better off with the 2nd round pick than signing him.

From the Mayor John Hoven
In other Kings news:
2014 picks Jake Marchment (C), Matthew Mistele (LW), Jacob Middleton (D) not expected to be offered ELC by 6/1 deadline
At least two of those guys will be offered AHL only deals, like Kevin Gravel originally signed with LA Kings - no guarantee they'll accept.

He has not fallen off. He had to recover from surgery this season. If you watched any Red Deer memorial cup games he looked very good.

Michael Russo @Russostrib
I'm hearing from sources that the #mnwild is unlikely to sign or trade '14 6th rounder Reid Duke. That would mean he'd re-enter '16 draft

Teams were interested in Reid Duke but we're offering up kid level players that did not make sense for wild, who wanted a pick.

Wesley, Baddock and Nogier signed before the deadline.
