That was a tough contract from the day it was signed - he put up 27 points in 79 games before this contract even came into effect - but they won the cup that season so hard to not re-sign your captain.
24 combined years at a cap hit of $22 million dollars per year remaining for Carter, Quick, Gaborik, & Brown. All 4 players on the wrong side of 30.
Mortgaged the future for their 2 cups - but going to be tough to get out from under some of these contracts.

Assuming he stays legal, how will the Kings force him out? Bury him in the AHL?

The Kings will find a way. I have no idea how they will try to do it but I totally expect them to try and find a way to void his deal.

What his buyout would look like if they buy him out this summer:

I don't see the Kings buying him out before the expansion draft.

They'll keep him around and expose him at the Expansion Draft. Las Vegas will pick him up most likely and make him their C. Easy to market a two-time Cup winning American player as the captain of an expansion team.

I really don't see why any expansion team would ever consider picking up Dustin Brown.

Maybe if his contract expired in a couple years, but it goes until 2021-22
If the expansion takes him they are crazy.

I don't think it counts if Dean Lombardi 'accidentally' backs his car over the player.

I'm pretty sure he wore white before Memorial Day and I think that's a law in L.A.
Contract is now void.

He would fit in well on the Ducks with Perry, Kesler and Bieksa.

There wasn't much not to like about him but even at his best he was never worth that contract. Pretty much the prime example of having to overpay to hold onto your cup winning roster.

Terrible deal as soon as he signed it. I am surprised about the captaincy though. Would have thought he is a Sutter kind of guy. Surely the coach had a say in this.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

I'm sure Dean Lombardi's crack team of private investigators are already on the case! Barring that I'm sure there's a file called "frame-job" in Lombardi's filing cabinet.

If Doughty isn't named, that would truly be the shocking part.

I'm sure he's a little more discreet than that. It's called "Framing 101" and in it is a book about how to frame a house, but once you open up that book you'll see that the pages are carved out and there is some, uh, documents inside of that book.

Does Doughty even wear an A?
Next year, Kopitar is the $80 million man. It's his show.
