Blue Star Diner makes a great burger. Honestly as a Beltline-dwelling Calgarian, I find Tubby Dog pretty overrated but what do I know. Take her there.

Try the PB&J with Capt. Crunch dog. It sounds absurd but it's so good. Boogie's Burgers was also on "You Gotta Eat Here". Highly recommend it. +1 for Blue Star Diner as well.

I used to live around the corner from Tubby Dog and always found it a bit overpriced and overrated. But lots of people love it. If you like fast food with a bunch of zany things dumped on it, you'll probably like it too.

Why is this even a question? Your fiancee has her heart set on it. Go. If you don't or you go somewhere someone else said was better, but she didn't get to try for herself? You will regret it. Go. Trust me.

I agree. If the tables were turned I think you'd be a little cheesed off that your S.O. wouldn't take the time to go to a place that was important to you.
I would hit up Naina's for their stuffed burgers as well. So good and on the show too!

One of my favourite pinball games of all time!
Atmosphere is good at Tubby Dog, dogs are good as well but pretty expensive for what you get. As was said above, Nainas and their stuffed burgers are worth a visit for sure! Also upgrade the fries to a poutine to ensure maximum gluttony!

The tacos at Tubby Dog (only on Tuesdays, after 6pm I think) are really really good and rival (maybe even surpass) the best tacos I've had at other Mexican places.

I found Tubby Dog extremely gross on the occasions I've tried it but it depends on personal taste.
For me, peanut butter & jam and Captain Crunch don't belong on a hot dog anymore than pickled ginger and seaweed.
It's a gimmick. People go to laugh and instagram the silly hot dogs like you are 5 years old and putting random junk on your food and having a giggle. I've never heard of anybody ever craving it as actual food they want to eat.

Exactly. The restaurant itself is not relevant.
It will come up in the future. A number of times. And rightfully so actually.
Go.

I think people go more for the instagram material than the food. Having said that the decor is pretty cool, as are the vintage arcade cabinets.
If your girl wants to check it out it's worth a visit. But I've never found myself thinking "man, the food was great, I need to go back for a bite"

Tubby Dog is extremely expensive, tastes only all right and definitely not worth the cost. Always good to try though but once is good enough.

Tubby dog is amazing, and one of the better places to go for a hotdog. A+, would recommend.

They do make "normal" hot dogs as well, though they are pretty messy, but also pretty tasty too as far as a hot dog goes. Definitely worth a one time shot. And yeah, it may be a little steep for a hot dog, but you get seriously full for less than 10 bucks.
There is another hipster dufus place called "Clive Burger" just down the street if you are looking for a burger.

If her heart is set on it, good or bad, you need to go there for sure or you'll never hear the end of it.
probably the best part about the place is that it's open til 3am on the weekend

I think the Poutinery beside Clive is the better destination.
