What they need to do is divvy up the WHL into two leagues - the Prairie League and the Pacific League. Or a new Northern Ontario-Manitoba-Saskatchewan league. Not too sure about the feasibility of a Maritime league because the QMJHL is small enough as it is
Four leagues, four teams. No ####ty host teams like the Blades three years ago. Problem solved.

Are you going to take on responsibility for selling the tickets???
Without a host team, they might as well cancel the whole thing.
Besides, this is a great tournament, why do people always insist on changing everything??!

Population distribution:
Ontario.: 13.6M
Q & Mar: 10.6M
West....: 11.2M
And you want to split the west into 2 leagues? Things are fine the way they are.

I've never been to the Centrium before but am headed up for the game tonight. Is there a bar with TVs in or attached to the arena? I'm hoping to catch as much of the Raptors game tonight as possible while I'm there. If not, what would be the closest bar to run across the parking lot like an idiot to during intermission?
Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated

You. I always hated that a weak host team could win the whole thing, but looking at the big picture the current setup is a reasonable, practical approach.

Not sure if serious but the Rebels game on Friday was pretty loud until it was 3-0 for London and it was good on Saturday but I'm guessing most of the fans were from Brandon. Hard to cheer when your teams losing. Yesterday was by far the best with the Rebels winning but I've been at the games and not watching on tv so can't comment on that.

Sorry but your out of luck. There's no bar in the arena though you may find a TV with it on. The Canadian hockey house should be showing the end of the Raptors game after the hockey's all done(it was on Saturday in there after Wheat kings-Huskies game). You won't have any luck running to the closest bar as its no re-entry after your in the Centrium and closest bar is a good 10 min run. My suggestion is download the TSN app on your phone and you can watch it on there.

I think what they should do is change it so that winners from the KHL, NHL, all 3 CHL leagues, and all the European leagues, plus winners of AHL, ECHL, NCAA and CIS all play each other in round robin best of 7 series for the ultimate hockey championship. Then the winner of this clusterF tourney has to play 3 final games against Team Canada, Sweden and Russia. Once the international portion of the tourney is done then there should be a shootout tournament with all the aforementioned league winners. All the best shooters will then get grouped and put in a pool to face off against the team that has collected the most points from all the previous games. If the team that has garnered the most points to this juncture beats the all-star shootout team then, and only then, may the Memorial Cup be awarded.
Edited for clarity.

There is a beer garden with TVs at the south end of the arena. Hard to say if they will be showing the raps game.

I do like this idea however I do think that the winner of the all-star shooting team vs. Most points team should faceoff in what would be called the Memorial Cup Super Game. The opposing team would be the host city of the Memorial Cup Super Game, the winner would be rewarded the Memorial Cup. It would feed the excitement as Sportsnet could interview players, fans and coaches of the host team as they watch other teams battle it out for the honour of participating in the Memorial Cup Super Game.

As a matter of fact, the entire reason why the WHL was created is because the provincial leagues in the west weren't strong enough to take on Ontario and Quebec in the Memorial Cup. Creating a united league for all of the west was meant to raise the quality of play, and it worked. Your proposal seeks to move things backward and for no good reason whatsoever.
It is actually mind boggling to me how people can turn into such bloody whiners because of the existence of a host team. A host team that just beat the crap out of the team that ended the regular season ranked #1 in the CHL, I might add.

What a ####ing night and game!!!
Great to see the Rebels play well. The Huskies had no response, and then went into chase mode and started taking penalties.
This is a really well put on tournament, the attached attractions and concert(s) afterwards is well done.
I wonder how many of those complaining about it have actually attended a game/tournament.

Top two offenses in the CHL tonight. I'm excited to see what the Knights do. Do they try to run and gun? Or play a tight game since they are also strong defensively. A win for the Knights guarantees a share of 1st in the round robin.

I think the winner of this tourney should be determined by both advanced, and unadvanced stats x goals for / goals against ^ pi

Most Knights fans didn't think so, that Knights team was weaker than we usually have here. I went to all of the games that season and the Memorial Cup and the Knights were the crappy host team. I will admit that I thought Guelph would win, but that's only because I saw a lot of them. Always tough judging teams from the other leagues based on the odd game that you catch on TV.

That goal is the model of what we would see if Tkachuk drafted by the flames.
Gaudreau flutters a pass to Tkachuk. Tkachuk darts a pass through the crease to a ready Monahan who roofs it.
