You can rent a trencher for 200 bucks a day. The parts aren't that expensive. It wouldn't be too expensive to do it yourself but I bet it's a few thousand to have someone do it for you.
I got a few pieces of sod to fill in a patch in my backyard. How many days do I need to do the daily watering thing?
Basically until you see it growing well on its own. Probably 3 weeks or so. Its seems like there is no progress forever, but finally it will take on its own - just don't give up too early.

What does it cost to have an underground watering system installed vs. doing it yourself? Looking at doing a normal suburban 52ft xt 140ft lot with a house on it, wondering if the cost savings are worth doing it myself
About 2,500, I used college waterworks 3 years ago and it was close to that

Anyone have a tried and true way of stopping little sucker trees from growing through one's lawn?
So long as there are leaves (and the suckers are not too big) then Weed B Gone works. I have a 50 year old poplar and it works on those suckers very well. Good luck.

So, I'll be finishing up an arbor this weekend from some cedar 2x4s, 2x6s and some cedar fence boards. I'm really not sure how to finish it, though. Is there a product that's pretty good for protecting cedar? Or do I just leave it natural?
Natural will go gray. I leave the cedar on my veggie gardens like that because I don't want chemicals near them. But for my deck and furniture I built I use Sikkens SRD.
This is the older CRD that you can't get anymore. SRD is a bit more opaque, but not totally solid. Colour is "Natural" 078, I believe.

I've got two mayday trees that have a ton of little suckers right around the base of the tree. I have hacked them to bits a couple times this year with the weedwacker, but is there a more permanent solution?

Chinch bugs - wreaking havoc in McKenzie Towne. Anyone have a realistic and effective solution to get rid of them?
Lowes sells a Trounce product especially for this. It goes on your hose and you just spray the whole lawn. Go into the Lowes on 130th and ask for Larry or Hazel in the garden centre. Tell them Susan sent you 😄

Looking at laying some pavers. Space is aprox 3' x 35'. Any idea how long that would take me? I should only have to cut pavers at the ends of the long section so I think it will go pretty quick. The reason I ask is I will have to rent a plate compactor to compact the bedding rock and at the end of the job. Trying to decide if I should rent it once for a long period or twice for a short one.
